Of all of you that made it to PDC and got one of those laptops. :(

Wonder if they'll be available for purchase? It's a sweet looking laptop.

I'm jealous too! Lappies only for green badges :'(

I suppose it's only fair they give it to those that are paying, but
still, I'm gonna be drinking my hateraide!

It was in the keynote. If you go to http://microsoftpdc.com/ you can
use the DVR capabilities in the streamed media to go back and see
where they announced it. MS custom built an Acer convertible tablet
specifically for Windows 7 developers (i.e. the hardware optimally
supports all Windows 7 features). This tablet was then given out to
all PDC attendees (with the right badges, I guess, sorry Jeremiah). I
really wanted to attend PDC this year, but it just wasn't going to
work out (work cancelled all conference attendances this year, and I
couldn't afford it on my own dime). Now I'm even more bummed. But if
we could purchase one of these directly (they mentioned it was
affordable), it might brighten my day :).

I asked about the availability to purchase. The answer is no, but you can
buy it in a couple weeks from Acer.

FWIW I don't get on either.

As far as I can tell, Acer won't have these particular ones. They are
custom built versions of the model that Acer will have. What the
differences will be, I don't know.

One thing in specific is that the bios has hardware virt enabled.
