Hello neighbors!

My name is Alexander Davis and I am the new development director with the nonprofit, independent Gateway Film Center. I'm grateful to work in Weinland Park and want to thank everybody with the Civic Association who has helped welcome me to the neighborhood over the past few months.

Our maverick mix of movies includes studio blockbusters, retro titles, the world's best horror program, independent darlings, documentaries, and the best foreign movies from around the globe.

GFC is committed to being a responsible part of Columbus and Weinland Park. Our core value of making all welcome means we work proactively to ensure that all of our neighbors feel welcome, affirmed, and celebrated as part of the film center community. We have been named by Columbus Alive as the best movie theater in the city, by Columbus Underground as a top-5 arts & culture institution, and by Sundance as a top-20 art house in North America.

Excited to announce some upcoming and ongoing programs at GFC:

Super Tuesday -- Every Tuesday, all day, movie tickets are only $5 and your popcorn is free! This is a great way to discover a new movie and try out the film center.

From Book to Film -- Our partnership with Columbus Metropolitan Library presents great family-friendly movies based on kids' favorite books, all summer long, free with any library card. Beginning May 26, 2017, showtimes will be every day at 11:00AM and 2:00PM with added 7:00PM full-price screenings on Monday evenings.

Sensory Friendly Films -- Held the 3rd Saturday morning of every month at 11am for families and individuals with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities, these screenings are presented at a lower volume with the lights kept up in a "no-shushing" atmosphere. Free to attend.

HOOT -- Free family fun at the film center held the last Saturday morning of every month at 10am. Lobby activities, dancing, kid-friendly shorts from around the world, live music from The Shazzbots and our Dance Cam, where kids and their families can watch themselves dance on the big screen.

Events -- Looking to do something special for a birthday, date night, or meeting? GFC's in-house restaurant (The Torpedo Room), our spacious Lounge, and 8 auditoriums ranging in size from 282 to 20 seats offers a ton of flexibility for anything you'd like to host!

And keep an eye out for a special upcoming outing exclusively for our neighbors in Weinland Park!

Thanks so much,

Alex

All,

My apologies. HOOT is Saturday 4/29 at 10am, not Sunday. Apologies for the typo, and thank you for your interest! HOOT is always the last Saturday of the month.

Best,

Alex
