Hola

Can you explain formula in slaloms?

Very complicated.

How much points for winner?
What do you mean Q=task value before normalization?
What is pilot's score?

What is value of Vpen?

Maybe better you give examples:
If winner time is 35s, how many points for pilots with 45s and 55s?

Gracias

Jos

Is it possible to get clarification or will it be changed in next version?

Thank you.

I have other question about max points for big tasks.

Will a task  winner always get 1000 points, even when he did not win all parts of the task?

Task catalogue not clear on this point.

I hope it is right place for questions.

Cheers

Hi Jos, thanks for your interest
three years ago this formula was approved at a meeting of CIMA (FAI).
Certainly there is an error, include the following:

Scoring= (1000*Q)/ Qmáx
----------------------------------------------------------
tpen = t_pil + m * v_pen

Q = LOG(3 * t_best / (t_pen – t_best + 3))

----------------------------------------------------------------

Where

tpil= the measured pilots time (seconds)

m = the number of missed targets

vpen= the time penalty for each missed target (seconds)

tpen= the pilots time (after penalties for missed targets)

tbest= the best time (after penalties for missed targets)

Q = the task value before normalization
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Formula favors the pilots performing the circuit quickly and the value
of precision in the sticks is defined by the value we place on Vpen
(always must be > or =1)

if we take the time several pilots and calculated results with two
different values of Vpen, get a better understanding:

(assuming that Vpen =
1seg)

- the pilot A make the best time in 35 sec

then Q = 1,5440680443502756354984773638681

Scoring = 1000

- another pilot B make 35.10 sec

then Q = 1,5298276052356653931268011670048

Scoring = 991

- another pilot C fails a stick and he make 35.23 sec

Q = 1,511986776738835182717001897038

Scoring = 903

- Another pilot D takes 45 seconds without missing any stick

Q = 0,90724594676310130358700010918093

Scoring = 588

-another pilot E make 55 seg

Q = 0,65946146305234519392572815487207

Scoring = 427

NOW IF WE VALUE (Vpen=2seg)

- the pilot A make the best time in 35 sec

Q = 1,5440680443502756354984773638681

Scoring = 1000

- another pilot B make 35.10 sec

Q = 1,5298276052356653931268011670048

Scoring = 991

- another pilot C fails a stick and he make 35.23 sec

Q = 1,3026876102026638335333786882322

Scoring = 844 (HE LOSE POINTS BECAUSE Vpen is bigger now)

- Another pilot D takes 45 seconds without missing any stick

Q = 0,90724594676310130358700010918093

Scoring = 588

-another pilot E make 55 seg

Q = 0,65946146305234519392572815487207

Scoring = 427
------------------------------------------------------------

I hope I've helped, best regards,

Hi Jos,
points of all the pilots are relativized to 1000 points, based on the
following formula:

Final Points= (1000*Scoring pilot) / Max Scoring

Nino

Thank you Nino,

It is now clearer.

Do you know already what value you will give to Vpen?

If it is only 1 or 2 seconds, maybe is better for pilot to miss stick and cut corner.

Also about normaliizing tasks for 1000 points, can you confirm Economy tasks 3.4 and 3.5 will always score 1000 points for winner.

Many thanks

Unless there is some extra normalization in the local regs that I have not seen, I don't think tasks like 'speed triangle & out and return' are designed to be normalized to 1000.  Normally the winner can only get 1000 by winning both parts of the task.

Same applies to tasks like precision landing, if nobody gets dead centre, nobody gets max points.

Exactly the point I wanted to hilight.

Tasks like "Speed triangle & out and return" have two opposite parts.
The fastest pilot is very unlikely to fly furthest, so it will never
be 1000 pts unless there's normalization.

Also inconsistancy with example of precision landing you give.

Target with circles (4.1) only gives 250 pts for dead center only.
Target without circles (4.3) gives 250 pts to nearest to center.
