Summer Planting!

Hi all,

This garden update marks the end of my patience with the recent
weather! I'm thinking spring, and I hope you are too.

Although May is a few months away, we need to schedule a planting
date. Like last year, we will conclude the planting with a BBQ at the
Walker's house. We'll provide grill-items covering all dietary
considerations, watermelon, and a variety of beverages, including beer
& wine. If you are attending the BBQ, please consider bringing your
favorite backyard dish.

As a Conservancy employee, May is a difficult month to schedule
personal activates. May 1 & 22 are off the calendar due to work
conflicts, leaving us with three Saturdays to choose from:

May 8
May 15
May 29

Review your vacation plans and respond with your most available date.
I need to provide a tentative date to the Conservancy by Friday, March
5.

Also, I posted a picture of the garden from July of last summer. Not
bad!

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder, our planting is scheduled for the 15th at 10am.
Please confirm if you will be at the planting, and if you are joining
us for the post-planting backyard-BBQ. Please pass along this info to
those not on the distribution list:

Garden Planting:
May 15, 10am
Rain/Shine.
Tools, gloves and water are provided
(Irrigation will be going out around 9:45am if you're interested in
assisting)

BBQ Details:
May 15, 1:30pm (or 45 minutes after the garden is planted)
Whats provided - Hamburgers, turkey-burgers, vegi-burgers and Hot
Dogs. Various salad, chip and vegi sides. Beer and wine.
If you want to bring something, let us know so we don't duplicate!
Where - 608 Lamar Ave (One block from Whitney Ave, between Todd & Hay)

Plenty of food and drink will be available, but we don't want so many
leftovers our fridge overflows, so please let us know if you will be
joining us!!!

Hi All,

 

We were getting nervous no one would attend this year!  Great to hear there is still interest.

 

Thus far, we have 7 confirmed participants (plus Britta and I), and there are 10-15 folks coming from Pittsburgh Cares. 

 

We'd love to have more of you, but we need a bbq head count this evening!!!

 

We have chips & guac, and a couscous dish joining the party.  If someone could make a green-leaf salad, that would be wonderful - but let us know.  Otherwise, we'll cover the rest!

Sorry I haven't responded...Gary and I just returned from two months in Australia...great time!

 

We will not be able to help on the 15th as I am already committed to the Edgewood Library's yard sale that day.  If we can weed sometime during the summer we will do so.
