Dear colleagues,
The Writing Center at Oregon State University (OSU) is pleased to announce its search for a Writing Center
Assistant Coordinator. Below, you’ll find information about the Writing Center, the assistant coordinator position, and OSU.
Please feel free to share this information with graduate students or others already working professionally in writing centers who might be excited to work in a Writing Center that is partnered with (and located in) a university Library and offers writing and research support across modalities (in-person, Zoom, and asynchronous written feedback). I’m particularly excited to bring someone on board who is eager to help mentor our consultants (undergraduates primarily) across modalities, to acquire and practice facilitative Studio pedagogy, and to help us strategize about how to promote our Undergrad Research & Writing Studio and Online Writing Support across campus and Ecampus. Our Studio is around 5000 square feet, around 20% of the Valley Library’s main floor footprint, with substantial student foot traffic, as we have a space that is for general student Library use as well as Studio use. If the occasion arose, we could host the equivalent of three first-year writing classes in our space and still have plenty of room for individual writers to have consultations. It’s a pretty amazing opportunity that our partner the Valley Library has offered us here.
Finally, the work we do in our Writing Center and in our partner unit The Academic Success Center is highly collaborative, from visioning to decision-making to leadership. In my career up to a few years ago, I claimed to have worked collaboratively with my colleagues, but not until the last few years have I come to understand what a collaborative working model actually looks like and how to be a good member of a collaborative team.
See below for the details of the position and how to apply.
Best,
