AWAC's Mentoring Committee is delighted to host Alex Arreguin and Caitlin Martin for a virtual workshop exploring "Frameworks for Change in Trying Times."
Date: Thursday, November 20
Time: 3pm ET (2pm CT, 1pm MT, 12pm PT)
Presenter Info:
Alex Arreguin, English Residential Faculty and outgoing District Faculty Development Coordinator, Mesa Community College (AZ)
Caitlin Martin, Assistant Professor and Director of the Writing Program, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Many WAC programs want to create more supportive institutional cultures of writing, but change of this kind is both difficult to enact and often invisible. Join Alex Arreguin and Caitlin Martin to discuss explicit and implicit indicators of change and how they can be used to better understand cultural change in higher education. They’ll provide an overview of this framework using examples from writing-related faculty development at three institutions and the 2024-2025 Sensemaking for Student Success Program, a Lumina Foundation-funded change initiative that supported eight teams from higher education institutes in Ohio. Participants will leave with resources to help them track change indicators at their own institutions.
