Dear colleagues,

We are recruiting authors/contributors to write reference entries for an encyclopedia about teaching writing and learning transfer. It is a reference work that will function much like other encyclopedias from writing studies and rhetoric (such as Theresa Enos's Encyclopedia of Rhetoric and Composition or Thomas Sloan's Encyclopedia of Rhetoric), except that it will serve as a reference work for teaching writing rather than for writing itself.

As a field, writing studies has much to offer in knowledge about teaching writing for transfer--the scholarship we have been developing  is replete with vocabulary that helps us understand how teaching writing for transfer works. We also draw from other disciplines as we learn from them in order to help our students.

This project seeks to document a vocabulary around teaching writing for transfer. We would like to develop a resource we can all use.

We also feel that issues about social change are important for writing teachers to understand within and outside the classroom because they impact writing pedagogy.

We have secured an advance contract with the WAC Clearinghouse / University Press of Colorado. To date, we have about 65 authors and 100 entries.

Please see the attached CFP for further details, and feel free to distribute it as you see fit.

Many thanks!

Tom Skeen, Mona Al-Qadi, Allison Ellsworth, and Duane Roen (editors)
