The Department of English at the American University of Beirut invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric to begin Fall 2026. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in Writing Studies, Rhetorics, and Language.
The first-year teaching load is 1/1, and 2/2 thereafter.
Areas of preferred emphasis include composition studies, research methods and design, and rhetorical theory. Candidates with expertise or demonstrated ability in sociolinguistics are also encouraged to apply.
An active research agenda is expected of a successful candidate. Research startup funds are provided, and additional internal support is available through competitive grant applications.
