Dear Writing Center Tutors and Composition Instructors,

I am writing to invite you to participate in a survey investigating the experiences of people who tutor in the Writing Center and teach Composition concurrently (or have done so previously). Thank you to those who have already completed the survey!

The purpose of this research is to explore how Writing Center tutors who also teach Composition (tutor-instructors) engage with student writing in both their institutional roles and how their engagement with writing shapes (or could shape) the development of writing programs at large.

I am seeking participants who are/have been tutoring in the Writing Center and teaching Composition courses at the same time to complete an online Qualtrics survey about holding these dual positions.

The survey should only take around 10-15 minutes to complete. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project, and there is no compensation for completing this survey. This survey has been reviewed and granted exempt status by the IRB (STUDY25110012)

Please take the survey by clicking this link: https://pitt.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1MGf1ch764onfBs

Please submit responses by January 19th, 2026.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration and participation!
