Visiting Lecturer or Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor, Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies, NAU English Department
The Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies program in the English Department at Northern Arizona University is pleased to invite applications for the position of a visiting lecturer or visiting assistant teaching professor in rhetoric and writing. The position is a one-year, non-renewable position with a start date of Fall 2023. This is a full-time, 9-months, non-tenure track, benefit-eligible position with an 80 percent teaching (4/4) and 20 percent service load at the Flagstaff campus. Responsibilities for this position primarily include teaching English 210, an introduction to rhetoric course, and English 305W, an interdisciplinary writing-intensive course, with a possibility to teach additional courses as needed in the Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies program. Additional professional development and service expectations will be determined in consultation with the Chair of English. This position is non-renewable.

Minimum qualifications for Visiting Lecturer:
M.A. in Rhetoric, Composition, Writing Studies, or closely related field in hand by August 1, 2023
2 years experience teaching university-level rhetoric and writing courses

Minimum qualifications for Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor:
PhD in Rhetoric, Composition, Writing Studies, or closely related field in hand by August 1, 2023
2 years experience teaching university-level rhetoric and writing courses

Preferred qualifications:
Evidence of demonstrated commitment and successful interactions with people from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, national origins, disabilities, age, veteran status, religious or political beliefs, sexual orientations, gender identities and expression, and lived experiences.
Evidence of successful teaching of rhetoric and writing at the undergraduate level
Evidence of teaching undergraduate courses in writing across the curriculum/in the disciplines
Expertise in rhetoric, composition, and/or writing theory
Evidence of a research agenda in rhetoric and composition
