Furman University invites applications for the position of Director of Writing Programs. The colleague in this role will provide leadership, assessment plans, and faculty and student development in fostering a culture of writing. This pursuit will be accomplished in alignment with Furman’s strategic vision, The Furman Advantage (TFA), and its linkages with Furman’s inclusive excellence goals. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a related field, provide evidence of exemplary inclusive teaching and workshop facilitation, and have the ability to assess de-centralized writing programs in the liberal arts setting. This professional will report to the Dean of Faculty and will develop productive collaborations with the Office of Institutional Assessment and Research, the Center for Academic Success, the Faculty Development Center, faculty librarians, and academic department chairs. This is a full-time administrative and teaching position with a non-tenure track academic appointment at rank commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
