Event: Registration for GSOLE Virtual Conference “Persistence in the Age of Disruption: Celebrating a Decade of Collaborative Work in Online Literacy Education” Now Open

The Global Society of Online Literacy Educators (GSOLE) invites you to register for the ninth annual conference, “Persistence in the Age of Disruption: Celebrating a Decade of Collaborative Work in Online Literacy Education,” which includes asynchronous video presentations available starting January 28 and synchronous Zoom presentations February 4-6. Even if you cannot attend live, registration will include access to the conference presentation archives!

As a non-profit organization, we pride ourselves in creating a high quality, affordable, accessible conference experience. Registration for GSOLE members is $10 for students and contingent or emeritus faculty; $20 for full-time instructors, staff, and administrators. GSOLE membership is similarly affordable, ranging from $20 to $50 per year depending on your self-reported professional rank.

This year’s theme, Persistence in the Age of Disruption, highlights how collaborative practices sustain our work, foster resilience, and build bridges in divided times. The global expansion of online education has revealed the fragility and promise of digital togetherness. Online literacy education in K–12 and higher education institutions can become sites of global solidarity, where persistence is collective and sustained by networks that transcend institutional and national boundaries. Founded April 7, 2016, GSOLE was built on a commitment to improving online literacy instruction through research, collaboration, and inclusive practice. As GSOLE celebrates its 10th anniversary, we invite conference presenters and attendees to lean into collaboration, persistence, and OLI community as counterforces to polarization and instability in today's educational environment. In an era defined by technological upheaval, institutional precarity, and cultural fragmentation, working together across disciplines, institutions, and modalities remains both pedagogically effective and socially vital. 

This year, our invited plenary speakers include Dr. Maha Bali who will present on "Creating Compassionate Learning Communities Online," and Dr. Heidi McCauley who will present on "Oh the Places You have Gone!: The First and Next Decade of GSOLE."
