Participate: TYCA National and Regional Affiliate Activities

Hi TYCA Members and Friends, 

The elected leaders of the Two-Year College English Association have started the process for organizing committees and activities for the upcoming academic year. We encourage all interested members of TYCA or NCTE to get involved in TYCA at the national level, including graduate students, adjunct instructors, and dual credit high school teachers. We are committed to finding a role in TYCA National for everyone who wants to participate. 

Here are some ways to get participate and connect with other members: 

Volunteer: If you would like to serve on a national committee or task force, receive a nomination for an elected position, or help with activities, please complete this form: Volunteer for TYCA National Service (Summer 2024 Signup). We need to make some committee assignments within the next few weeks, especially for the national conference. However, the form will remain open until mid-September. Other opportunities will be available in the fall closer to the time of TYCA regional conferences and the NCTE Convention. 

Join a Professional Network: TYCA and NCTE members are invited to join one or more new professional interest networks. A network provides opportunities for members with similar interests and areas of professional work to share resources, engage collaboratively in professional development, seek help with questions and work issues, and communicate with and support each other. If you are interested in joining or starting a network, please use the following form: Join a TYCA Network. Activities for some networks will be available in forthcoming TYCA newsletters and messages to the listserv. 

Connect with a TYCA Regional Association: Members have additional options for connecting with TYCA members in their regions. To receive information about participating a TYCA Regional Association, complete this form: Connect with a TYCA Region. Although most TYCA members belong to the region where they live and work, you have the option to receive information from more than one region and/or join a neighboring region in an area close to where you live.

Participate in a Reorganized TYCA West Region: TYCA is in the process of reorganizing the Pacific and West regions into a single region that will include California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Southern Idaho, Wyoming, and Hawaii. TYCA National will organize elections in Fall 2024 and a develop virtual conference to kickoff the reorganized region in the first half of 2025. Propose a Session for the TYCA National Conference: The next TYCA National Conference will be held on April 9, 2025 in Baltimore, Maryland in connection with the annual CCCC Convention. The Call for Proposals is available through this link: TYCA National Conference 2025 Call for Proposals. The conference website and a link to the proposal registration system will be available soon from NCTE. Proposals are due by Monday, September 16.
