The Department of English at East Carolina University (
http://english.ecu.edu) is seeking to fill one fixed-term faculty position with the title of Teaching Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor specializing in composition to
begin January 6, 2023. This full-time non-tenure-track position is for the spring semester of 2023 and fall and spring semesters of the 2023-2024 academic year only, with the possibility of subsequent appointments. The full-time teaching load is typically four courses per semester. Teaching will consist of face-to-face courses, with the possibility that some online courses may be assigned, depending on department and university need. Depending upon a candidate’s credentials, as well as the needs in the department, the Chair may assign other courses besides composition. Service to the university, community, and profession is expected. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications, and full-time positions include benefits. The department seeks to attract a culturally and academically diverse faculty. Contingent upon available funds.
Minimum Education/Experience
Minimum qualifications for appointment as a Teaching Instructor include an MA in English or a related field, including but not limited to Rhetoric/Composition, Writing Studies, or Technical Communication.
Minimum qualifications for appointment as a Teaching Assistant Professor include a PhD or MFA in English or a related field, including but not limited to Rhetoric/Composition, Writing Studies, or Technical Communication.
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of and experience in teaching
courses in business writing and scientific writing. Candidates should
demonstrate knowledge of and experience with online teaching and online
pedagogies and technologies.
