Hi there! (or Howdy, as we say ‘round here sometimes)
I’d like to announce that we have two full-time staff positions available at the Texas A&M University Writing Center.
The Writing Consultant I is an entry-level staff position - https://tamus.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/TAMU_External/job/College-Station-TAMU/Writing-Consultant-I_R-041744
The University Writing Center is seeking a Writing Consultant I who will be responsible for consulting face-to-face or online with students in the Writing Center about writing and public speaking; maintaining records of consultations; presenting at events and workshops; attending training and staff meetings; and assisting with reception as needed. The Writing Consultant I will serve as a team leader; will assist with training consultants; and will develop materials used in teaching, consulting, or marketing. In addition, the Writing Consultant I will serve as a night and weekend supervisor as needed and will cross train and communicate with other staff members to maintain business continuity and promote a team environment. Our selected candidate will subscribe to and support our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA) as stated above.
The second post, a Writing Consultant III, specifically asks for ESL/ELL qualifications- https://tamus.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/TAMU_External/job/College-Station-TAMU/Writing-Consultant-III_R-041696
The University Writing Center (UWC) is seeking a Writing Consultant III who will be responsible for providing advanced consultations and tutoring for students and other UWC clients. This position will assist and support English Language Learners through developing, assessing, and implementing programs and services as well as provide training of writing/speaking consultants, and one-on-one tutoring online and face-to-face. This individual will represent our office at University and off-campus conferences and events. We are looking for a creative individual to create teaching materials such as handouts, podcasts, or videos and to work with the writing center team to provide quality assistance in writing and public speaking to a large and diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoys helping students, specifically ESL students, on their writing, speaking and audio/video skills. Our selected candidate will subscribe to and support our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA) as stated above.
Moving expenses may be covered for both positions. (Also, fun fact: College Station’s cost of living is relatively low compared with other Texas cities—ask us how we know!)
You can also send specific questions about either position to Nancy Vazquez, our director: nvaz...@tamu.edu.
Thanks!
