This issue features five compelling articles: arguing for deep rhetoricity as an intervention and a praxis of invention; calling for translingual praxis as an antiracist and decolonial pedagogy; defining “benevolent gaslighting,” in which racisms are repurposed as benevolent misunderstandings; bridging the disciplinary gap between creative writing and first-year writing; and using our discipline to uphold democratic values amid racism and other critical societal crises. In addition, CCCC past chair Holly Hassel reviews the recent governance restructuring and asks, “What orientation do we want to have toward others . . . our students . . . our colleagues . . . ourselves?” This issue also includes the Exemplar Award acceptance speech on hospitality in the discipline, two reader responses addressing a kairotic moment for critical language awareness and communal justicing, and the latest edition of Forum: Issues about Part-Time and Contingent Faculty. | |
