Subject: ENTRIES OPENING for the 'Vibes & Scribes' Lee Swim 2015 - Saturday, 11th July at 3:00pm

Colm,

Online entries for the 'Vibes & Scribes' Lee Swim will open tomorrow, 2nd April (well, really at midnight tonight) at:

http://register.sportstiming.ie/ps/event/Leeswim.

Thanks to the continued support of our sponsors, we have been able to maintain the entry fee for Under-18 swimmers at the same level as last year, €25. For the Over-18s there is a slight increase from €35 to €40 for early entries, and from €40 to €45 for entries after 31st May. There is no booking fee on any of these figures (as there has been in previous years), so we think we’re offering excellent value for money.

If you do intend to take part, the single most helpful thing you can do is to register as early as possible. The Organising Committee will have to make a decision on 31st May (six weeks before the Swim) on the number of participants to cater for, and, critically, the quantities of merchandise to order.

Entries for all categories may close earlier, if numbers exceed 600. We had a record entry of 510 last year, and this year, the 10th anniversary of the re-launch of the Swim, we are planning for even bigger numbers.

When completing your entry, please try to estimate your time for the Swim as accurately as possible. Swimmers will be ranked in order of submitted time, so, for safety reasons, please submit a realistic figure. You don't want to be in a group that is too fast or too slow for you!

We are, as always, very grateful to our title sponsor, Vibes & Scribes, to our gold sponsors Cork City Council and the Port of Cork Company, and to the more than 20 organisations and voluntary bodies that support the Swim.

This is the 11th running of the Lee Swim since its re-launch in 2005. We are happy that the Swim has established itself as a major fixture in the annual open-water swimming calendar. This year we’d like to continue to focus on and promote the social aspects of the Swim. We are planning a post-Swim party at a city-centre location. To encourage people to attend, we will be handing out the age-group medals at this event, and the detailed results will also be available. We will also be giving away any surplus merchandise (swim hats, lapel pins, mugs, etc) from this and previous years.

For further information, check out the Cork Masters and Cork Lions Club websites. There is also a new dedicated site, www.leeswim.ie, which is the course of construction.

For more frequent updates, see our Facebook page.

We hope to see you back in Cork on 11th July for another great day out!

Regards,
Joe
