Hello:

I took a look at the software we have in the MIDI lab and I think the
following exercise will be useful for practicing for the ear training
test next week:

1. Open Practica Musica
2. Click continue without student file (unless you have a file you
would like to use, otherwise continue to tell it not to use a student
file when asked)
3. Click the "Activities" menu
4. Select the "Original 16" exercises (I think that is the number, but
you'll recognize it as something like that) under the Activities menu
5. Choose #13- chord progressions

It will ask you to select the difficulty (another menu). THe first
level is just I and V chords. Try progressing up to level 3. You
will click the play button and drag the chord analysis options onto
the chord number. When you think you have it right, click evaluate.
It will then show you the 4-part harmony. In addition, I would try to
write the melody and bass lines before clicking evaluate.

I'll be around tomorrow at 11 if you need help. Also around this
afternoon, particularly 3-3:30.

Actually I'm not available at 11 Wednesday. I can help you at noon,
though. Even better, I can demonstrate in class Wednesday.
