Tryingto record video to computer. T3i, windows 10, trying to go from the mini hdmi on the camera to the hdmi on the laptop. EOS webcam utility works with usb connection from the camera, but the quality sucks. A different device works through HDMI to the laptop so the port there is good. The hdmi mini port on the camera will connect via the same hdmi cable to another device, so the cable is good and that port is good. But camera + hdmi + laptop is a no go. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I've turned everything off and on. Jiggled wires. I have recordings taken from before with this setup. I can't think of anything that has changed on the computer except windows auto updates. *Edit to add: I was wrong, I don't think I've done it with this exact setup. But I still feel like I've checked all the boxes and this should be working!

For many of our DSLR cameras, you would use a Compact Power Adapter (AKA "dummy battery") and a DC Coupler. The DC Coupler goes into the camera's battery compartment, and the Compact Power Adapter plugs directly into it. They look like this:

As noted above, the EOS Webcam utility is designed to to work with the USB port, not the HDMI port. Also, your DSLR would need to be in video mode, not a still photo shooting mode. Finally, it is a good idea to reset the camera back to the factory defaults, most particularly the power options.

Anyway, I decided a few months back that I wanted to stream on YouTube using this camera. I could do it with the USB cable but obviously quality is poor (480p standard I think?) I tried plugging in the HDMi cable but it doesnt work ... and there is a reason why ...

I think the one thats highly recommended is the 'Elgato', they cost about 100 / 120 USD if memory serves ... but ... you can get cheaper ones, knock offs if you like. I bought one on ebay, it works and it streams in HD. You can find comparison videos on youtube of people that have compared the Elgato to these cheaper ones. The difference is noticeable but its subtle, the knock offs are really pretty good.

Anyway, hope that helps. I can't send you a link to the exact one i bought because its no longer listed on ebay but I paid 13.99 for it and after a quick search of ebay now I'd say this is the one ....

If I connect a 1080P display to the board with an HDMI to DVI cable, the display works just fine (so the issue is not with the board or the cable). However, if I connect a display whose native resolution is 1024x768, the display fails to initialize and I see several '[drm] Cannot find any crtc or sizes' errors in the boot log. Weston also fails to start, but that is understandable if there is no display.

I have been digging around in the source code, and I suspect that the supported resolutions / pixel clocks on the HDMI output are limited, based on the 'imx8mq-hdmi does not support non CEA modes' comment I stumbled across.

My G62 has an ATI video HD6370, when I connected my notebook with the HDMI cables it worked very well, and after a month simple the laptop didn't detect the TV anymore, so I re-install drivers and updates but nothing happened, now that I'm looking for solutions I see a lot of people have the same problem and HP it's not given any solutions for this problem why???

I pressed F4 and it came the window to enable it but it was already enable, it didn't do anything, it's really frustrating, but thanks anyway...My video card is a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370, I un-install it and re-install it but nothing happens. My LGHD tv can see "HDMI" high light it in my TV but no signal...

Same issue here, for months hdmi worked on HP G62-340US and all of a sudden stopped working? No flags anywhere, have tried everything from upgrading drivers to removing and reinstalling. The TV recognizes the port but no picture comes. In sound settings it says not plugged in and I can't seem to change that. Quite annoying since laptop is little over a year old. If this doesn't get fix I will never buy a hp laptop, this is the first experience with hp.

Hi cmode,

I understand that you are having an issue with the picture not displaying properly. I have included the document 'Resolving HDMI Display and Sound Issues'. If you scroll to the bottom of the document there are several links for troubleshooting HDMI issues.

Please let me know if this resolves the display issue, thank you.

Hi, thanks for the info, i did everything you suggest, but it didin't work, my hdmi might be bad by now, since i tried everything possible for troubleshooting, thank you for trying to help. But it's helpless, it's probably broken.

I decided to get a device that works through USB and converts to HDMI, I 've seen them in ebay, kind of expensive but I don't have other laptop, so I 'll get that in order to be able to see in my HD LG tv.

Nope, the option you suggested are quite simple. As I already mentioned that the hdmi worked on laptop for almost a year and now just stopped. Its saying not plugged in Sound devices properties. I have to use vga port not to connect it to my tv which is really not very useful since I get het sound from laptop and every time I need to increase or descrease sound, I have to get up. Not a good experience.

Hi cmode,

Thank you for the information. With going through the troubleshooting steps and not being able to resolve the issue, I do have one question to clarify with you. Have you tried another HDMI cable? Does your current HDMI cable work with another computer? This will help determine if there is even an issue with the cable, or the port that it is connected to.

Please let me know the outcome of these steps, thank you.

Goodluck to you, seems these HP laptop are made to last only one year. The only option you are left with is to use VGA port on your LED tv, which is also not efficient since the sound won't come from your TV. The most frustating thing is that all diagnostics and device manager event viewer all clear. No issue flagged anywhere just HDMI won't work anymore. Pathetic Hardware and pathetic resolution give there for kids. They should admit that they have an issue where HDMI stopped working and device manager or any other diagnotic tool, like HP asstant won't detect that.

What happens now is that when i plug in a new source, eg PS5, it recognises that there is a new device as the 'scanning for devices' screen appears, the screen comes up about setting up the smart remote and when i exit that by clicking 'later' I get the swirling circle of dots before the screen appears saying 'no signal'. This is the same across all HDMI ports and different input devices- PS5, Switch and mac.

I've been through what I consider to be everyting I can do: factory resets, unplug everything, plug it all back in, do it in different orders, check the sources are working (which they are) but nothing.

@CD771: Do you have access to another HDMI cable to see if this resolves the issue? In the meantime, please try heading to Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC), and disable this option if it is active, then try connecting your external devices once again to see if this helps.

I've tried different HDMI cables but nothing. I've just factory reset & unplugged absolutely everything. Gonna give it 10 minutes then set it up again from the ground up and will use a few different hdmi's just to check. I'll also give the Anynet+ suggestion a go as I've not tried that yet!

I have a Frame 49" late 2019 and mines has done this exact thing too. I've had Samsung remote look at it and says it needs repairing. I think personally it's a software thing. As it recognises our nintendo switch is plugged in changing the name to Nintendo switch but won't show a picture. Or my ps5 or the nowtv box. It's a bit suss. As the TV seems to have had an update. As the tv guide now shows the channel logo on the left which wasn't there a week or two ago.

I had remote service look at it yesterday (which was really quick and great) and they concluded that it needs someone to look at it so that is now booked in for Thursday. I was really worried as I bought it in June last year so thought it would be out of warrenty but because of covid they extended the warrenty to August. Phew!

So the issue is that the cable that runs between the tv and the connect box is damaged and needs replacing. Apparetnly they are really quite fragile and this problem is happening a fair amount. Not that I've been heavy handed with it or really moved it about.

If I power on the Raspbmc and TV, but the TV display is not turned on. Sometime later I use the TV remote to power on the TV display, then I get a blank display on TV through HDMI. This is not the screensaver because using a XBMC remote does not change anything. The Raspbmc is active though, because I can ping it and connect to it using SSH.

hdmi_force_hotplug=1 sets the Raspbmc to use HDMI mode even if no HDMI monitor is detected.hdmi_drive=2 sets the Raspbmc to normal HDMI mode (Sound will be sent if supported and enabled). Without this line, the Raspbmc would switch to DVI (with no audio) mode by default.
