The Earnings endpoint returns an array of payments for the given driver. Payments are available at this endpoint in near real-time. Some entries, such as device_subscription will appear on a periodic basis when actually billed to the partner. If a trip is cancelled (either by rider or driver) and there is no payment made, the corresponding trip_id of that cancelled trip will not appear in this endpoint. If the given driver works for a fleet manager, there will be no payments associated and the response will always be an empty array. Drivers working for fleet managers will receive payments from the fleet manager and not from Uber.
Dedicated fleets have always been a potential source of truckload capacity for shippers but have become even more valuable during the current tight market. After years of unprecedented premium spot market rates and low primary tender acceptance, shippers are evaluating where they can implement new dedicated fleets while maximizing the benefit of existing ones.
While the goal of a local fleet is to run short hauls and return home, longer lanes should have a backhaul load to offset the cost of round-trip miles paid to the carrier. Investing in a dedicated fleet can be a long-term solution that provides endless value to your transportation management. To implement a dedicated fleet, a shipper must have freight density and consistent flow of volume in a targeted shipment area. Fleet management should target no more than 10-20% empty miles to meet industry standards for a regional fleet. Dedicated fleets can be evaluated for high-mileage lanes but should only be implemented if backhauls are heavy, consistent, and scheduled favorably for drivers while meeting utilization goals.

To travel throughout the rural South, they organized a car fleet, kind of like an Uber before Uber. It was called the Sojourner Motor Fleet, named after formerly enslaved woman and abolitionist Sojourner Truth. And the fleet was organized right out of SNCC's headquarters in Atlanta. Here to talk to me about that are two SNCC members, Judy Richardson and Freddie Greene Biddle.
Judy Richardson: One of the things I remember using the the fleet: I remember being on the highway going up from Greenwood, Miss., to Atlantic City for the Democratic National Convention in 1964. And honey, people were getting out of our way. White people, on the highway, getting out of our way 'cause our cars look like police cars. They look like state troopers. You know, these Plymouths were wonderful.
Leah Fleming: So what would you want young people today to know about SNCC's legacy, especially with these cars, A lot of people don't even know that there was a fleet, the Sojourner fleet.
But those prospective benefits for drivers are seemingly undercut by a service in New York that Uber hasn't been touting: the fleet partner program. According to the site, a fleet partner is anyone who owns more than one car in the Uber system and pays the drivers themselves, instead of Uber paying the drivers directly.
Uber encourages potential and current fleet partners to look for prospective drivers and renters on the Uber marketplace, which serves as sort of a Craigslist for both drivers looking for cars and renters looking for drivers. Not all listings on the site are for fleet partners, however. Some listings are just car owners looking to cover some of the expenses on a car they may not use often but still need by renting it out to Uber drivers.
Through this program, drivers who don't own cars are able to access the superior economic opportunity Uber claims to offer but, in a number of these fleet cases, the benefits inherent in app-based car services like Uber seem to vanish.
Raza Ali, a current Uber driver who is renting a car from a private individual for $500 a week, told BuzzFeed News that, all things considered, he can bring in a net weekly income of $800 in an average week. But Jaimin, another driver, has been renting a car to drive for Uber for $700 a week and expressed his frustration at the fleet gig.
Though Maqsood doesn't think Uber is a direct competitor (although the company also offers an SUV and black car service that includes luxury cars), he said that many competing car services may not have the choice to opt out of the fleet partnership program because of a lack of a stable enough client base to subsist alongside Uber.
"Everybody has different ways of working in this transportation market," Maqsood said. "Maybe [other car services] are not yet on that level that we are. We are working since 2007 ... we're going to back out [of the fleet partnership program]. Some people can't back out [when] they later find out it's not worth it."
A flexible lease allows rideshare drivers to select their Mustang Mach-E for between one- and four-month increments, depending on location. Within two weeks, the driver receives the vehicle and utilizes the Ford Drive app to handle payments and maintenance. In every city, the Ford Drive team works with local dealers to obtain a fleet of Mustang Mach-Es. The dealers perform all service and maintenance work for the vehicles.
The chipmaker announced partnerships with ride-hailing service Uber and automaker Volkswagen at the tech convention CES. Nvidia's chips are already in use in Uber's fleet of modified Volvo XC90 SUVs, while Uber also uses Nvidia chips to run neural networks in its self-driving cars and trucks, according to CBS partner site CNET. Shares of Nvidia rose $5.22 to $220.62 in early trading.
The fleets have outsized climate impacts, pumping out about 50% more carbon dioxide in 2018 than the average personal vehicle for every mile traveled with a passenger, according to an air board analysis.
Air board member Daniel Sperling, founding director of the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies, proposed weakening the electrification targets in favor of pushing ride-hailing companies to instead reduce miles traveled by their fleets. But the proposal was voted down with only two votes in favor from Sperling and air board vice chair Sandra Berg.
But Lyft already pledged to electrify its entire fleet by 2030, and Uber has the same goal for vehicles in US, Canadian and European cities, with full electrification by 2040. Uber also said it would commit $800 million to help drivers transition in the United States, Canada and Europe.
The announcement comes about eight months after AtoB raised $155 million in a Series B round and said the funding was earmarked for scaling and for providing working capital for small truck fleet operators.
Of the 78,000 cars currently authorized by TLC as app-based rideshares, roughly 2,200 are electric vehicles, TLC data shows. The TLC expects the fleet to be 25% electrified by the end of 2026. If that happens, roughly 19,500 electric for-hire vehicles will be on the street.

The ride-hailing company has invested in autonomous-vehicle research, and its CEO Travis Kalanick (pictured above) has indicated that consumers can expect a driverless Uber fleet by 2030. Uber expects its service to be so inexpensive and ubiquitous as to make car ownership obsolete. Such ambitious plans could make its disruption of the taxi industry look quaint in comparison.
