Microsoft recently discontinued the older versions of Office viewers. Microsoft will not provide hotfix, service pack, or security update support for these products. The discontinued Office viewers are as follows:
Is there an Excel viewer for Mac OS X? I understand that the OS X developer tools are free and the Excel format is documented and I can teach myself Objective C on the web and set "write Excel viewer" as my first assignment, but I am hoping for a solution with a lower activation energy.
If you are viewer role , you don't have permission to add build . Members of a workspace with at least a Contributor role automatically have Build permission for datasets in that workspace, and permission to copy a report. Read more about roles in the new workspaces.
Sorry for confusing you. What I really mean is if you are login with a viewer role user, you can't add build permission to other user. The viewe role can have build permission of the dataset. The key of the issue is whether you have build permission to the dataset. If you don't have the permission. Even though all the setting above you have configured right, you will not have permission to export data from visual.
Zoho Sheet is another method of accessing spreadsheets through a web browser using URLs or direct uploads from your computer. Finally, if you wish to view and edit documents offline, OpenOffice is an excellent open-source alternative.
I'm using Wise Package Studio to create a silent install package for all of the Microsoft Viewers and Compatibility Pack. All of my packages run completely silent except for the excel viewer. I still have a window that pops up during installation and my group would like it silent.
I know that the Microsoft viewer apps are discontinued and outdated. I'm looking for an app that I can install on a Windows RDS/terminal server for the sole purpose of viewing DOCX and XLSX documents. No editing, converting, saving, etc needed. Just really good viewing.
Need some suggestions for fast and efficient alternative for MS Excel only.
It should not contain other office things like powerpoint, pdf viewer, etc.
I have searched a lot on web about this but doesn't find good alternatives which should also on arch linux package list.
Tried Libreoffice and Gnumeric, but doesn't meet the expectations.
For example, do you need plots / graphs? Do your spreadsheets have embedded images (raster and/or vector)? Do they have scripts? Do you need to be able to enter and edit formulas? If not editing formulas, do formulas need to be preserved from the original when saved? Do formatting, coloration, and borders need to be preserved? Are there multiple worksheets in the excel file?
I just want fast spreadsheets editing software which can view and edit ms excel format xlsx simple files.
I have tried LibreOffice which is very slow and also Gnumeric but doesn't like its UI and it also lack certain features.
@Trilby I am not suggesting to use online services, I am suggesting to download appimage of onlyoffice which is opensource (at least it is written next to download button) anyway they need just excel an I do not know if it exists on Linux I just know that onlyoffice is compatible with excel sheets for my usage better then freeoffice or other free options.

Our customer wants to display the content of a simple (i.e. one sheet, simple content, see sample image attached) excel on a ASP.NET MVC rendered page. Is there a way to configure the Spreadsheet component without any menues and additional functionality like editing, copy/paste, etc.?
The following article shows one way to achieve something similar. It is written for the WebForms wrapper of the spreadsheet widget, but the JavaScript approach is the same, the rest is irrelevant. Link: -ajax/spreadsheet/details/load-excel-file-into-a-read-only-spreadsheet. Here's the extract:
The federal Rehabilitation Act Section 508 requires that the above free viewers must themselves comply with the accessibility guidelines. Below are links to the Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) for these products:
If you need to use multiple excel-viewer on one page, the ESM method will not be able to set different theme modes for the previewer and cannot use the theme switching function. You can use the iframe embedded approach to solve this problem perfectly.
The widget allows you to decide how Excel data will be presented. For example, you can customize column headers as well as specify whether to visualize spanned cells. Also, if your Excel file is nicely styled, all the styles will be rendered in the viewer.
Launch VS Code, use the Install from VSIX command in the Extensions view command drop-down, or the Extensions: Install from VSIX... command in the Command Palette, and point to the .vsix file (i.e. gc-excelviewer-4.2.58_vsixhub.com.vsix).
We have an article with an Excel file attached. When a reader clicks on the attachment it is launching in the SNow document viewer rather than launching Excel. Then, if they attempt to download the file, it converts it to a PDF. We need it to be an actual Excel file. Is there a way to specify what types of files open with the document viewer?
Thanks. This is good info, except we don't want to disable the document viewer. Is there a way that a script can be used to disable the document viewer only for Excel files? There should really be an option for each attachment to set the behavior. Do you want it visible as an attachment (actual attachments, yes. screenshots and images from the body of the article, probably not)? For some items the viewer is ok (specifically PDF's). Others we may want it to open in its native Application (Word/Excel) or perhaps we just want click to download and not have it open at all.
From what I've found, documents can only pop open as a PDF in a PDF viewer - and then you can download them in their original format. (Even THIS is an improvement. Years ago, you couldn't get attachments in non-PDF form to show up/load at all. You could ONLY download them. So, at least you have an option now.)
Also, look at your coding in the backend. Look at the end of your URL and see if it includes "&view=true" after the sys_id for that attachment. That tells you it's going to load in a PDF viewer vs. downloading. Try deleting that code.

We will use the PDF viewer to display a Word, Excel or PowerPoint document instead. To do this we must convert the docx, xlsx or pptx file to a pdf. This task can be accomplished in Power Apps with only one-line of code.
Thanks for your response and the link. I could attempt to take what Vivek demoed little further. My fear is, that such workaround is not sustainable for a serious app with multiple personas. I only hope and wish PA team comes up with Office viewer control.
You probably have an empty (no content) Excel file. Try to edit the file and write anything in it, then use the PDF viewer.
This raises another question for Mat, how can we avoid it. How can we check if a file has no content?
Hi Matheu, thanks for wyour example, this is fantastic. I tryed to put it on action, but i couldnt with xlsx files, can you please help me to understand what am i doing wrong or if there is anything i need to do to achive that. (i can see the ppt files in the PDF viewer)
