Hi WoP users,

maybe it is about time to start real discussion here... ;-)
I think this week or next we will release a new CVS snapshot, and I
would like to present the newly added features beforehand, even if
there are only a few:
- Lua interface for bots
- slightly enhanced GUI (e.g. you can show the players' names next to
their avatars)
- the background is now part of the world: this means that theme
creation and handling will be a lot easier as it will suffice that the
theme information (background & map) is available only at the server,
and everything will be transferred to a client upon connection
- stand-alone server (right now with ncurses output, I already had some
discussion that this not too appropriate for "real" stand-alone
servers, so maybe later a different output method will be added)
- a somewhat in-game console like feature using the chat mechanism
(right now used for adding Lua bots on the fly)

That is what is already in so far. For future development, on my
personal TODO list is the following:
- review the network protocol with regard to security issues
- make more improvements in the GUI
- complete the Lua bot interface
- think about "server realms"
- the all time favourite: try to resolve the asynchronicity issues
(maybe I will start a separate thread on this topic)

Now, everybody feel free to comment about these existing/planned
features and to tell about your most desperate wishes (only regarding
WoP of course ;-))

Cheers, Scusi

The development process is slowed down right now, because
two of the three developers are busy writing their PhD thesis.

When time allows things will progress faster again, we promise.
We are all still very interested in this project.

Cheers,
Tom
