By the way, where do you recommend us to exchange euros for TL? Do you want to be the exchange office? I prefer to give you the commission than to the bank. Otherwise, for me it's going to be better to pay everything I could by card, because my bank offers the same exchange rate as the BCE (no hidden commissions).

Hey all!

I already talked with Taylan about the EUR to TL exchange. There are mainly two options: either go to an exchange office in Istanbul on Saturday afternoon (apparently there's one close to Taylan's place) or to pay in money to a Taylan's european bank account (so that in EUR) and he will give us the equivalent in TL.

We just have to check whether the comissions for international money transfers within Europe are more expensive than the exchange comissions there in Turkey.

I think we can discuss all these things on Wednesday.

No harness at the end (we'll just bring a randonneur rope just in case) and no helmet!

Add a balaclava (passamuntanyes) to your gear... might be very useful the summit day!

Guys apparently checked the working ours of exchange office near my home and the rates of euro to turkish liras!. 

Unfortunatelly we wont be able to go to exchange office after your arrival because they are working untill 18.30!!! 

I took some euros from ATM machines by using my belgium account and the fee was just 4 euros. and the rate was around 2,52 TL per euro in the exchange office !!!So I think we have to calculate the all present and possible expenses and I guess the best option is to sending money to my belgium account,  and I will take the money and change it before you come!!

For the catalans there is another money option that has no fees. (This will continue in catalan, as the others are probably not very interested anyway!)

A la caixa d'estalvis i pensions de la caixa parlem et canvien moneda estrangera sense comissió. El tema és que per tenir-la divendres s'ha de demanar a una capital de província i s'ha de fer abans de demà a les 11. Llavors, si voleu, aquells que no sigueu de la caixa us ho puc fer per valtros; jo demà demano tots els diners i ja me'ls donareu en metàlic (abans de divendres!). El canvi que et fan és l'oficial en el moment d'anar a recollir els bitllets (ara mateix és 2.53).

El canvi oficial és el del BCE:

de la meva experiència amb La Caixa és que ells no et cobren comissió de canvi de moneda, el que passa que el seu canvi "oficial" (el de la caixa) mai és el del BCE, evidentment sempre pitjor per a tu. El canvi del bce és el canvi interbancari, un canvi que a dia d'avui només aplica Triodos i Novagalicia (si no ha canviat). Ara, m'agradaria molt saber si la caixa ho ha canviat i ara et dóna exactament el mateix canvi del bce...

te raó l'uri! el canvi que ens fan a la caixa és de 2.19, o sigui que suposo que lo millor és treure diners allà amb un caixer i menjar-nos la comissió.
