Tonight I attended the funeral for the young girl I mentioned in my last post. It was a graveside service with a memorial service planned for a later date when her dad and possibly grandad could speak at it. She was laid to rest at their family cemetery. It was a beautiful celebration of her short life, yet a reminder that she had lived a full life. Please continue your prayers for this family.

I have hugged my own kids more than usual lately as these events have reminded me just how short and uncertain life is. I anxiously left them home alone tonight when I left for the funeral - they seemed to have something up there sleeves. Sure enough, as I pulled into the drive-way I saw them both peering out the window watching for me. When I walked through the door "Pretty Woman" started playing over the stereo, supper dishes had been washed & dried, the living room was clean (vacuumed & dusted), my favorite movie was waiting on screen to play, a palet was made on the couch for me to lay on to watch the movie, and the boys had written poems that they were itching with anticipation to recite. Austin's poem went something like this: "Mom is the best ever, prettier than polyester. She smells like roses and is younger than Moses." I'm certain he meant well! Bryce's was a slight impovement: "Violets are red, Roses are blue (this is not a typo), mom smells better than her coffee brew." In the opinion of a coffee snob - I think that's a pretty good compliment!

At any rate - I'm a softy for all of their hard work and well intended poems so they are now watching "Pillow Talk" with me at 11:00 on a school night (though they are getting the glazed over look and may be giving up shortly)!
