No, you did not miss a blog post - there was no "Day 1." I've been in a bit of a funk since arriving due to missing a night of sleep. Therefore, when 10:30 hit last night and I finally had the blessed opportunity to go to bed - I took it! After a couple of cups of cafe (coffee) this morning, I was finally beginning to feel human again!

I haven't gotten to do much site seeing yet as we've had solid meeting since my arrival (literally, I had time to put down my suit case and freshen up before my first meeting yesterday morning). I did, however, get to experience the spa yesterday afternoon - I assume I received a massage but I slept through it so aside from the oily feel on my body afterwards I can't say for sure. I also came prepared with the phrase "Donde es Starbucks?" Turns out one is only a half block away! Still haven't been there - only walked past, but I know where it is when the situations turns dire! I also went to a grocery store that is more like a combination of a high-end department store, Sears, and a super-market. The store is on the ground level with every brand from 'reasonable' to Prada. The next floor down is appliances, electronics, etc. and the 2nd floor down is a grocery store - I knew it was there because I could smell the fish (delightful, I know!). I didn't bother going up... I couldn't imagine what kind of store was left. I'm sure I'll figure it out before I leave though.

Today after our meetings we all went to local restaurante. Afterwards, the waiter asked if I wanted cafe, I said "si, por favor - mucho gracias!" It was the first cup I've had thus far that has hinted at the return of European Sludge... Although, I must say, I did enjoy it more tonight than I remember on my trip to Portugal three years ago. As I lay here thinking about the much needed sleep I am about to partake it, I am feeling my heart beat out of my chest and realizing how long it's been since I've drank coffee at night (not to mention straight espresso or whatever it is), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to sleep.

Tomorrow after meetings, we'll be venturing over to Sangre de Familia - a Gaudi designed cathredal that I can see from my hotel window (very far away, but I can see it!). I look forward to posting pictures tomorrow evening. Until then, all I have are from said hotel window. Welcome to Spain everyone!
On the mountain behind all of the buildings is a pretty cathedral (not the one mentioned above), you might can click the photo to open it bigger and see if you can see it better.

Do you see the blueish horizon at the top of the buildings in the photo above? That is the Mediterranean Sea. The picture is so small, but my view is beautiful - I can see sail boats, etc. during the day.

I am seven hours ahead here, so I better get to bed so I don't sleep through meetings tomorrow morning.

Buenos Noches!
Donna
