Well I've always said I wanted to live in a big city for at least a few weeks to get a feel for what true city life is like. From what I can tell, people work around the clock to make a living - so I think I am experiencing it like a full-blooded New Yorker. There is no 9 to 5 around here - most people work until at least 7 (tonight I walked into my hotel room at 10:30 for the first time since about 7:30 this morning). I typically work more than my fair share too, but the difference of course is that I get to do it from home and these people don't. The other difference is this, when I'm at home working long hours - I just feel tired. Here, all it takes is to step out onto the street and the energy of the city floods your body. It's an instant pick-me-up!

Today began with meetings with our web designers who are doing a fabulous job on our new website. Since I've not been blogging much lately, some of you may not know that our organization is undergoing a rebranding and with that a new website, etc. Following that 3 hour meeting it was off to the conference facility to begin set up for tonights welcome reception. In years past the conference was held in the same hotel we were staying in, but New York real estate being at the premium that it is, most hotels didn't quite have what we were needing. Instead we are in a facility a couple of blocks over. Another aspect that is a bit different, but also due to the location is security. Most buildings in NYC of course run a tight security, but this one is over the top and rightfuly so. Upon entering, all of our guests have to present a photo ID and receive security clearance before being able to reach the elevators. At first I just thought it was a bit (as I've said) over the top, but come to find out... the U.N. has offices in this building.

Due to our new expanded scope of textiles our attendance has nearly doubled. We also have press from several apparel magazines, websites, etc. in attendance. Our speaker list is also quite impressive featuring the founder of Patagonia as well as Eileen Fisher (big designer) and many, many other brilliant people! I am very excited for it to all get kicked off tomorrow.

So clearly, I didn't do much that was incredibly exciting today. But here are some photos that I took from the windows of our conference facility (17th floor).

And last, but certainly not least since it is my absolute favorite image of the day - I took the below image on our walk back to the hotel after stopping for dinner at a delicious Indian restaurant that we stumbled upon, Darbar (I highly recommend it if you are in the area). I looked up and saw the fog resting among the sky scrapers - beautiful!

Good night all!
