that seems to last ALL year... Fundraiser time! That's right... already? I hear you! Austin brought a new fundraiser home the end of last week and it is cookie dough, cheesecakes, cinnamon rolls, etc. Basically it is all delivered to the school frozen and we have to get it delivered to the buyers before it thaws. The downside to a fundraiser like this (besides the obvious "fundraiser" part) is that our neighbors don't have much freezer space for these types of items... dorm freezers are really tiny! There will be some fundraisers he can sell to them - for example, he is wanting to get back into Boy Scouts... college students love popcorn!

The upside to this fundraiser in particular is that they have a website for family or friends that don't live in the vacinity (that would be you). BUT WAIT, there's more... don't close the page yet... the website has other items for your home or gifts for other people.

This fundraiser is for Austin's Choir (Mackenzie Middle School Choir). If you are interested in helping out this worthy cause (believe me, if you've heard him sing... this is the best way he can help this choir) :) - visit the website below. You will be asked to enter the Group number (below) and during check-out you will be prompted to enter the students name.

Student name: Austin Worley (just incase you haven't been paying attention)

Thank you for even taking the time to read this. Please don't feel compelled to buy if you don't want to - I realize many of you have kids/grandkids in fundraisers yourselves. However, if you decide to... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

I would like to tell you this is the only fundraiser I will be sending your way this year, but don't count on it! :) I will try to keep them to a minimum however. Austin is also in the band. He had originally decided to play the trumpet. A dear friend of ours loaned us his trumpet that is clearly older than I am (the company that made it went out of business in '79) - so we immediately took it to the local music store and they went to work cleaning it up, soldering it back together in a couple of places and banging dents out of it. The day before we were to go pick it up, Austin talked to his band director about Percussion... the director gave him a rhythm test, he passed and the rest is history. So, yesterday we went to pick up the trumpet (that we won't be using) along with mallets, practice pads, etc. The good news is... instead of him practicing a rather loud horn at home, he will only be practicing on a practice pad that is rather silent! Percussion instruments stay at school! HURRAY! Although, I am learning silence comes at a price... who knew drum sticks were SO expensive!!! Fortunately, the band director divided the list of what Austin needs into six week increments. I realized we were in trouble when we got to the music store and the clerk asked what school we were with and I told him - his response was "oh, you have that LONG list!". So apparently, that is not typical... our band director is a percussionist. Austin says he has a degree from Texas Tech on his wall in Percussion. He also told Austin that he holds his percussionists to higher standards than any other student. He told him he will learn approximately 30 instruments before the end of this year, 150 before the end of middle school and around 250 before the end of high school. That scared Austin a little, but he's still gung-ho and excited.

Well, enough rambling from me - you are probably eager to get shopping (ha, ha)!! Thanks again for even considering it, but no ones feelings will be hurt of you opt not to purchase. Being in Austin's life is support enough!!

Love to all!
