I just pulled up the ol' blog while I'm sitting at Bryce's basketball practice just killing time (because we all know - I have time to waste!) and my last post was when I was in New York. So, I thought I better send an update to let everyone know that I did make it home... four months ago :).

The next 'big' trip will be to Barcelona, Spain in September in which we are attempting to begin some plans for Roy to join me after the work is over for a few days... we'll see.

In the meantime, (since my last posts) Austin has finished 7th grade football and now basketball and has made the LISD middle school golf team (first practice was today). This is LISD's first year to have golf in middle school so they have combined all the schools into one team - the goal is to mostly give them some experience of playing golf before the high school competitive level. Needless to say - he LOVES it.

Bryce is finishing up his basketball season this weekend (in a local church league). His last practice is tonight so they are playing parents against the kids right now... note where I am (or where I am not). Austin gladly took my place :). Other than that he is doing really well in school and getting excited about middle school next year - I'm not ready to talk about that though. After basketball season ends, he thinks he wants to join the local boxing club... perhaps the Rocky movies weren't as good of an idea as Roy and I thought.

Roy is in full swing of all things athletic at the university on top of his actual job. Of course, he is still mostly involved with softball as one of the coaches, but is also the only person on staff that can run the stat program - so they keep him hopping with that in all sports. The kids and I will get to go to Tucson again with him this year during spring break - I can feel the warmth of the sunshine already!

I am staying as busy as ever. My school load is a little easier to handle this semester (Biology of environmental problems & a drawing class). My job is still crazy, but I am trying to maintain more balance. It's been quite the challenge working from home to peel myself away when it's time to. I've now gone two weekends without checking email... doesn't sound like much, but believe me it's a huge accomplishment! I have a terrible time sitting still and feel that I always need to be busy but I've come to realize that there is a difference in being busy and being unnecessarily busy. I'm trying to be busy with only the things that really matter - my spiritual walk, my family, and my other responsibilities within reason. Don't get me wrong, I am very blessed to be able to work from home and I wouldn't trade it for the world - I just need to know when to put it away and to remind myself that it will still be there tomorrow. There will always be times when a project demands overtime and I love that my colleagues know I will pull an all-nighter for the good of the team - but the rest of the time... I need balance!

That should catch us up for the moment. I hope everyone is doing well!

Love ya and God Bless!
