Well hello friends! I always have good intentions of using this blog more often, but never take the time to do so.  As a result, this particular blog will serve as a "catch up" report.

As you might can tell from the title of this post - I am in Hong Kong (HK)! This past May, one of my colleagues tendered her resignation, which has left me managing events in addition to my previous responsibilities at work.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, but it has certainly challenged my organizational skills and endurance to say the least! In June, I made a quick trip to HK to conduct a site visit and was lucky enough to be accompanied by my sweet hubby.  It's not often that he can travel with me due to his own schedule, but also due to the fact that I normally share hotel rooms with colleagues to cut expenses - so it was a nice treat! So, after six months of planning and sleepless nights occasionally, here I am - preparing to kick off our 10th annual conference! Of course, I cannot take all the credit or even most of the credit - I am surrounded by a great team of people who have all stepped up to the plate and put in many hours.

In all of my travels, I've been very fortunate to never have any delays or lost bags - so this trip has caught up for lost time. My flight from Denver to San Francisco (SFO) was severely delayed causing me to miss my connection from SFO to Hong Kong. So, the airline I was on was able to switch me to a different airline so that I could get out faster.  Of course, the problem with that is getting the baggage to switch over. At any rate - after sitting in SFO for 12 hours, I finally made it to Hong Kong... without my bags. I've been on the phone with them throughout the day and they now tell me they've located one of the two. No worries, they only contain clean clothes and ALL of the conference materials needed for this week. The clothes I can replace if worse came to worse, but the conference materials would be harder since there is no time to reprint and recreate.

The important thing is that we're here safely, right? Right - I couldn't agree more.

Now about the "and more" part of the subject line. I just wanted to give a quick update on the family. Roy and I are now the proud parents of a high schooler and a 7th grader! Scary, right? They are both off to a running start with school, literally. They both play football and Austin is also in the band - so we are running constantly! I'm sure I'll look back on it some day with fond nostalgia. In all seriousness, it is fun to watch them in their activities and to be a part of it ourselves as best we can.

Austin attends the large 5A and started out on the freshman football team and has now moved to the JV team. When he's not at football practice he is at band practice - he is in the percussion section and loves it!

This is Bryce's first year ever to play football and, like his brother, loves it! He is also really looking forward to the basketball season and then golf (in hopes of not doing track more than anything other reason I think).

We are VERY proud of both of our boys young men, but more for their hearts than the things I mentioned above... they are genuinely good kids who love God and family. I couldn't ask for anything more. I will share photos over the coming weeks as the season's continue.

I plan to post more blogs this week, but it will largely depend on the amount of time and energy left at the end of each day. I'll do my best though!

Hugs and Kisses from HK!
Donna
