Good afternoon fabulous, stupendous, spectacular Summer and Semester volunteers!
I hope you all had fun and relaxing weekends and that the start to this week is going well! Thank you for your great check-ins, stories, calls, messages and photos shared! I can't wait for us all to be together again this weekend! I know that each of you are having such a unique experience and it will be great to be together and share some of those stories!
And don't forget your dancing shoes at Mid-service! WT Chile put together this Waka Waka video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doLpSJBLekM And I want to try to come up with some footage as well! At the very least we can contribute to a WT combined, world-wide video! :)
ESSAY CONTEST!
I'm excited to announce a WorldTeach Namibia Summer Program Essay Contest! Basically, WorldTeach asks each of you to contribute a story highlighting some experience of yours in Namibia so that we can use them for promotional and educational purposes. But to spice things up (!!) I'm turning this into a contest with actual prizes to be given out at End-of-Service! SO, here's the deal: I'm leaving this really open in terms of length and topic. It can even be something you wrote for your blog, copied and put into a word document for me. However, the BEST entries as determined by me and the home office will receive awesome prizes!!
All volunteers, please submit your entry to me via email no later than Friday, 16 July. Please let me know if you have any questions! And....just to get your creative juices flowing (and to make you realize that it doesn't necessarily have to be a masterpiece), I've attached something I submitted to WorldTeach when I was a volunteer. Again, I basically took it from my blog and edited it a little. :)
Finally, I want to say how incredibly proud of all the hard work you've done in your time in Namibia so far. As I said, each of you is on your own journey but I'm thrilled to hear the details of personal and professional triumphs. Keep it up and remember I'm only a phone call away if you want to discuss anything from computers to spiders to learners to cows!
I'll see you soon!
All the best,
Jocie
