Hi

At first let me thanks this tool is great !

I can not understand some behavior of the embeded map.

the fact are and what i see :
- if i embed a map i have not the sidebar (is it a normal behavior ?)
more surprising for the same map i can click and edit a feature (such
as change a polygone remove a point or remove the object ...??? (so
every body can do it ?)

I can not understand this behavior

Any help ?

Merci

i fixe more in detail what's happen
i can edit an object (in the embeded map) only if i'm connected (as user ?) (at http://worldmap.harvard.edu/maps/1060) and if the  layer is selected ...
this happen with two different browsner for example : i'm connected with firefox to the html page who embed the map and connected with safari as user at http://worldmap.harvard.edu/maps/1060 ...

strange isn't it or may be i miss something or i don't understand something ...

Hi Jean,
The embed map is only pan and zoom, not the full functionality of WorldMap.  You can use the Link URL to provide full functionality but not embedded.  People can only edit layers they have permissions to edit.  If you create a layer and do not give anyone edit permissions they won't be able to edit.  Make sure you read the Help manual sections for this (link at upper right).  It might be a little boring but will save you much time.

=> OK

=> even in an embeded map ? (this point is not clear for me because i can not understand why in an embeded map we havn't the full functionality except the fact that we can change an object (click above and edit it in the infowindow)
this behavior is right ????

Yes the embed version is limited in functionality.  Link to the full site if you want to give someone access to everything, or put it in an Iframe perhaps to have it available in a page.

Not sure if I am answering your question.

Best to use worl...@harvard.edu for further questions on WorldMap.  Thanks

Sorry Ben but i continue to not understand that :

i can not understand WHY in an embedded map we havn't the full
functionality
EXCEPT the fact that we can change an object (click above and edit it
in
the infowindow)

- for me this behavior is strange :
in other word WHY it is possible to edit an object in an embedded
map ? (you say me just the zoom and the pan function are available

this behavior is right ????
Thank you

Jean Pierre

Hi Jean Pierre,
It is not possible to do any editing in an embedded map.  Perhaps I am misunderstanding something.
Best,

Hi Ben
so... i have investigate more ... and here are the facts..
i work on a map here http://worldmap.harvard.edu/maps/ ...

1 - i select a layer X in the sidebar
2- i choose link on the horizontal menu (to get the id of the embed map)
3- i embed this map in another server

Result :
so i have i nice embedded map with all checked layer (and of course if they have the good permission)
in this map the X layer is editable !

conclusion :  whatever the layer (with adequat permission) selected in the sidebar it will be editable in the embedded map

normal or abnormal ?
according to your previous answer it seems to be abnormal...

It turns out edit functionality will appear on clicking but changes will not be saved unless you have edit permission. We will want to hide this from embeds for now though.
