| Food Trends | | Even though I’m a couple months late on New Year’s resolutions, I’ve recently been reflecting on my relationship with social media. Much like others, I know I spend way too much time scrolling—either consuming media that simply doesn’t serve me or frankly, just makes me sad. But everytime I think about deleting my favorite social app, I pause and think about all of the inspiration and joy it _can_ bring me when used with intention. It might sound like an excuse, but I’m proof that (whether I’m proud of it or not), a significant amount of my favorite home design, craft, and food inspo all comes from fantastic content creators. | | | | | In relation to food specifically, I’ve most recently been obsessed Courtney Cook and her insane (but honestly, genius) food combinations—why have I never thought of eating dumplings out of onion cups before?? Without a few scrolls, I would have never stumbled upon her mega-viral recipes that I now gleefully discuss with friends and have on next week’s grocery list. Then there’s one of my tried-and-trues: Meredith Hayden of Wishbone Kitchen recently traveled to Japan and shared her culinary ventures on her social channels, and I’m now doing everything in my power to book a flight as soon as possible. Working as an editor, it’s part of my job to stay on top of trends—and while it can sometimes be a little mentally exhaustive, I also love that I get to constantly be inspired to cook and eat in ways I had never thought of, see culinary destinations I otherwise wouldn’t have, and easily share and connect with other foodies that feel the same. So, here’s to scrolling, one mouth-watering video at a time. | | | | | | | Better Homes & Gardens is part of the People Inc. publishing family. | | | | |
