Verified Wolf Depredations In Bayfield and Jackson Counties

On July 1, 2026, USDA-Wildlife Services verified that wolves killed a calf on a property in the town of Kelly, Bayfield County. The complainant will utilize night-penning as a non-lethal abatement. On July 6, 2026, USDA-Wildlife Services verified that wolves killed an adult cow on a property in the town of Springfield, Jackson County. Visual deterrents have been deployed as a non-lethal abatement measure. On July 6, 2026, USDA-Wildlife Services verified that wolves killed a hunting dog in the town of Komensky, Jackson County. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) partners with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services department to investigate reported conflicts with wolves.
