Dear Colleagues,
National Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week honors the community services professionals who make up the vast diversity of occupations that supervise individuals on community supervision. The National Institute of Corrections is proud to be part of this annual celebration. We send our gratitude and encouragement to you, the thousands of men and women who make this field more than just a job. For many of you, it is a passion for helping our most vulnerable citizens find justice, rehabilitation, and stability in their daily lives.
Community-based supervision helps improve outcomes for people who find themselves involved in the criminal justice system. This challenging, yet rewarding career affords you the ability to work with people closer to home, helping them personalize pathways to behavior change based on their own individual experiences. As growing numbers of people supervised in the community establish crime-free lives, resulting in safer streets, we are keenly aware of what an integral part you are in the process.
At the National Institute of Corrections, we continue to affirm the use of evidence-based practices, and we stand with you bearing witness to the noticeable shifts happening throughout the country’s criminal justice system. These are positive changes indicative of the positive outcomes you create each and every day in your important roles. Thank you for your service. NIC looks forward to celebrating many more years with you, working together as partners in criminal justice to create a bright and safe future for the people in your care and the communities you serve.
Sincerely,
Shaina Vanek Acting Director National Institute of Corrections
