New Registration System Implementation Update

Supporting companies now have access to Motus, USDOT's new registration system.

Last week, we shared the steps we’re taking toward launching Motus, USDOT's new registration system for FMCSA customers. This email provides an update to that process and outlines what to expect in the coming months. The new registration system is live for supporting companies only: transportation service providers, blanket companies (BOC-3 filers), and financial responsibility filers (insurance/surety companies and other financial institutions). They now have limited access to the system to create their user and business profiles. This will allow them to prepare to support registrants when the system opens for all users in 2026. There is no action for motor carriers or other registered entities to take within Motus, USDOT's new registration system, at this time. Here's what's coming next: In 2026, FMCSA is planning to open the new system for all users, including motor carriers and other registered entities. As we approach this date, FMCSA will provide instructions on how to access and use the system. Subscribe to email updates from FMCSA’s Office of Registration based on your role in registration.
