Kirkland dog food is a popular dog food brand sold through Costco.
There was a scare recently with two of their canned products being
recalled for safety fears, but let's face it - so was most of the dog
food market! So is Kirkland dog food a good choice?
Well Kirkland dog food is popular as it provides a good balance
between cost and quality, obviously it is not up to the standard of
Solid Gold Wolf King! But for the price then a lot of people swear by
this food to keep their dog healthy and happy.
Kirkland dog food is manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods for Costco then
sold under the Kirkland name, I have seen good and bad reports all
over the internet about it but by far the good reports prevail. I
guess this comes down to the specific breed and temperament of your
dog, you can't get a 'one-size fits all' food that will both please
and suit all breeds and sizes of dogs.
The key is to try it out, even if you dog is happy on what they are
eating then try something else out for a week or two and see the
difference. You may find out that the bad stomach your dog gets from
time to time is actually from a poor choice of food and that changing
will clear that up along with improving their energy and vitality.
Don't be swayed by the 'premium' brands either, remember they have to
pay for all that advertising somehow. Often you'll look at the
ingredients and see that Kirkland dog food is just as good if not
better than the top brands, so don't be a food snob, as you dog
certainly won't!
The main things you want to watch out for are meat 'by-products' aka
any old bit of the animal, BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin, unspecific meat
sources, too much grain or rice in it and artificial colorants or
preservatives etc.
You can tell a lot just by looking at the labels and Kirkland dog food
seem to have just the right mix of ingredients so it definitely worth
a try.
