i agree with the idea that sending the girl to school at a time where
her father is dead and the mother is struggling with the farm is not
the best idea. But i believe the reason the mother is making this
effort for her child is because she knows that with an education, you
can succeed much more in life and have a better chance in living a
more wealthly life. And sending her to school is a long term
investiment and not a short term investment such as having her to help
at the farm. And finally with all this new knowledge she learns from
school, she can help the family farm even more than she could if she
did not have and education.
