SUBJECT:  15th Annual Line Dancers’ Spring Break, April 23 – 27, 2014 – Myrtle Beach, SD

          ………ROOMMATES NEEDED……..

FROM:  Steve Lescarbeau, Event Director

I have a non-smoking male who is looking for roommates.  Please contact me as soon as possible.

Lots of new faces this year, so don’t get left out, this may be the year we have to cap registrations.  I like to keep it fairly intimate so people have room to dance.

This year joining me will be Mr. Showcase himself, John Robinson.  John has been coming to Spring Break since it came to Myrtle Beach years ago.  His unique style of teaching and just watching him tear up the dance floor makes everyone smile.  New this year is fairly local guy Mr. Will Craig.  Will has knocked out some great dances in the few years he has been on the circuit.  His love of dance shows so much he jumped in the role of Event Director.  His “Big Bang Classic in Charlotte, NC in February is now in its second year.  My longtime friend Mr. Johnny “2-Step” Houston will be back again, with some great dances from Europe.  New this year is another good friend, Mr. Dancin’ Dean LeClaire from the New York/Canadian Border.  Special Guest Instructor, Amy Glass will be here this year.  Such a sweet girl, and wonderful person.

Our DJ – is none other than the zany Jill Babinec.  She keeps the fun moving and the music flowing.  Jill will also grace us with a teach or two.  There will be a guest teach from the beautiful Dancin’ Terry from South Carolina. Of course we still have our famous “Putt Putt Tournament”.  Don’t forget this year’s Saturday night theme is “Halloween, Fright Night”.  One lucky person is going to win a COMPLETE 2015 Spring Break package; Hotel, Meals, Taxes and Tips, Workshops, and Dances!  Some restrictions apply, but that is over a $500.00 value!

Our dedicated website is all updated so please visit for more information and registration forms.  If you live in the area or have a timeshare somewhere, we do have a dance only pass, no meals or accommodations.

SUBJECT: NC REGIONAL LINE DANCE WORKSHOP REVIEW

FROM:  SUSAN WEBB  dance...@embarqmail.com

A regional line dance workshop was held in Durham on Saturday, March 1 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Durham hosted by Bonnie Mathews.  We had a great time as always.  Dances taught are below.

Easy Intermediate-----A Little Bit Gypsy by Neville Fitzgerald taught by Bonnie Mathews

Intermediate-----Counting Stars by Simon Ward taught by Susan Webb

Intermediate/Advanced-----New York 2 LA by Rachael McEnaney taught by Brenda Smith

Intermediate/Contra------Round and Round by Will Craig and Guyton Mundy taught by BC Beach

A little history of the NC Regional Line Dance Workshop that you may find interesting and informative.

The NC Regional Line Dance Workshops are geared toward Intermediate dancers. There was a group of about 15 or so dancers from within about 100 or so miles of each other who were the original participants in these workshops that started long ago. We were dedicated to wanting to learn harder dances. We have lost some of those people and have gained some different people as time has passed. We LOVE gaining new dancers. Many of us are still the original dancers. A survey was conducted for the NC Regional Line Dance Workshop a few months ago and results indicated that the majority of the intermediate dance participants only wanted 4 dances taught, more open dancing, and levels as close to the below as possible:

1 easy intermediate

2 intermediate

1 intermediate/advanced

We will continue to try to stick to this format. Classifying a dance level is very subjective and varies among choreographers. Many times dances are classified by choreographers as Intermediate/Advanced, but we, regional instructors, do not think they at that high a level. Sometimes dances are classified as Intermediate but we think are harder, etc. Last Saturday, all the dances we taught were classified as the above by the choreographers. Sometimes our workshops may not strictly follow the above classifications that are on the step sheets because of this varied classification by choreographers.

A BIG THANK YOU TO THE PEOPLE WHO COME!!!! Often times a Special Beginner Session is offered on the morning of the NC Regional Line Dance Workshop. There has been good participation in those and lots of fun had by all.

The next NC Regional Line Dance Workshop will be held at Wyse Fork Community Building in Dover, NC on April 12. More information will follow later.

A special workshop to review some dances we have done at Regionals will be at Susan's Place in Stantonsburg on May 17. More info will follow on this later also.

This year we are launching a new annual one in the Midlands at the lovely Royal Court Hotel, Coventry 21st-23rd November 2014 - Maggie's home town of course so we are calling it 'Maggie G's Home Game' !! :-) - It's a great hotel & Maggie has long wanted to do an event there so we are exited about this one too - Just a few rooms left so move quick if you'd like to come - Dee is our guest choreographer :-)
