SUBJ:  SUNDAY AFTERNOON WORKSHOP W/ JOHN ROBINSON & JAMIE MARSHALL (Murph's Country Barn, Cedar Hill, TN)
FROM:  Jamie Marshall -
thejamie...@att.net

What a fun Sunday it was at Murph’s Country Barn (located just 25 minutes from downtown Nashville) with two World Line Dance Champions, John Robinson and Jamie Basham Marshall!   The venue is large, bright and tidy.  Doors opened promptly at 9:30 to allow dancers to shop Super J Mart for custom t-shirts, jackets, jewelry, music, hand fans and all sorts of other great dance items.  John taught Chippin' Away  (Maryloo), See You Tonite (John), Roller Coaster Ride (Dan-Kelly Albro) and Summertime Strolling (Kathy Kelley Brown). John also did voiceover walk-thrus of his Call Me Baby, Drive By Baby.  Love Repeats (Michele Burton) was a “turbo teach” on the floor. Jamie taught American Kids (Gloria Stone), Honey Bee Boogie (Jo Thompson Szymanski, Frank Trace and Jamie), Waltz at this Moment (Jamie), Straight and Narrow (Lynn Card), Love Never Felt So Good (Debbie Small) and Baby CuCu (Winnie Yu (Dancepooh).  Jamie’s voiceover walk-thrus included Bring It (Jamie – danced to Bartender by Lady A and the original song) and It’s Easy (Bob Rosenkrans).  Dancers enjoyed a tasty, homemade, buffet style lunch of BBQ, baked beans, slaw, potato salad, pecan pie, lemon, pie and yummy chocolate cake!  Resident instructor, Larry B Richards, helped play music and was on the dance floor the entire day!  Be sure to check out Larry’s FB page and blog of LineDanceNews.com.  Murph, the owner, was there the entire day smiling, laughing and thanking each dancer for attending and inviting everyone back!  Be watching for other workshops coming soon!

SUBJECT: TRIP REPORT, GARDENDALE, AL (U.S.A.) LINE DANCE WORKSHOP
FROM: Lisa and Peter McCammon

Just a note to thank Donna Barnett and Jackie Tally for organizing and running a great event last weekend. After a longish drive on Friday, we really appreciated the pizza option for dinner during open dancing. A bigger treat than the pizza was a special teach of Dangerous by Mr. Showcase himself, John Robinson. John asked for a show of hands and I'd guess about 3/4 of us had never learned his classic dance. John was his usual wonderful self, managing to combine humor and entertainment with teaching. We danced it to all three uptempo pop tracks that I think are used at most events, although the step sheet also lists several country options.

On Saturday, there were two rooms with workshops and open dancing, along with tables for comfortable seating in each room. In addition to John, the instructors were Sherry Herring and Kathy Donohoo; Barbara Traywick led some morning walk-throughs for open dancing. I counted 20 dances taught during workshops. We also were tempted by a separate room where vendors had a large variety of great stuff. We were on our own for lunch, but Donna and Jackie provided some late afternoon snacks just as we were starting to flag. They thought of everything!

And although THEY were not personally responsible, some of us on the front side of the motel also were treated to a 4th of July fireworks display on Saturday night. Peter and I watched from the comfort of our beds, feet up. We hope to go back next year, and look forward to seeing many old friends and making more new ones. A few pix and video links are on my website, www.peterlisamcc.com

SUBJECT:  Joanne Brady Lubbock Workshop, 6/26-6/27

FROM:   Carolyn Key – ckey...@gmail.com

              Houston, TX

Just returned from a great event hosted by Rosalee Musgrave and her dancers in Lubbock, Texas.  There were about 140 dancers present and we danced on a great floor with plenty of room for all.  Joanne Brady did an awesome job of teaching – she makes learning a dance so much fun!!  When we decided to let Joanne take a break, we had open dancing with walk thrus from local instructors.  My favorites were Happy, Gentle (love it), Mexicoma, and Help Me Make It Through the Night.   Would recommend to all – was well worth the 8 hour drive from Houston.
