Subject: Desert Dance
From: Frank Trace

A big thank you goes out to Janet Wallace, event director of Desert Dance Workshop in Arizona, and to Big Dave Baycraft for a wonderful line dance weekend.  Joining me was fellow instructors and friends Dee Musk, Shaz Walton, Rubin Luna and Juliet Lam. This event was fun, relaxed, enjoyable, social and informative.  The beautiful roomy social hall was decorated nicely with western decorations complete with a neat area for photos. Host Janet was welcoming, friendly and very organized. Big Dave (Crystal Boot Award winning DJ) kept things moving and everyone dancing.

We learned a nice variety of Beginner to solid Intermediate dances.  There was something for every level of dancer.   All the instructors had great dances to teach. Dee taught SEA OF DREAMS, MAGIC TOUCH, CAPTIVATE, NIGHT NURSE and more.  Shaz taught OH MY DAYS, HEY BOY, 1929, POP and more. Rubin taught MELON MAN, CORAZON, BIKER SHUFFLE, ONE LAST LIE and more. Dave taught FOR THE GOOD TIME, I SAW LINDA YESTERDAY, ALL GOOD, IMELDA’S WAY and more. Juliet taught her beautiful NC2 dance A SWEET SURRENDER.  I debuted 3 new dances; SHOTGUN RIDER, BUZZ ME and MARTINI TIME and taught RUDE BOY (Willis & Spencer), DARK SIDE (Willis, Lescarbeau, Christian-Sohn) along with my EVERYTHING CHA, HOLLER OH BABE, BETTER & BETTER and HEY.

Heading out to the desert dance halls in the evening was a highlight of this fun event. Being with my British friends (Dave, Pauline, Dee & Shaz) was wonderful. Love those guys. Getting to spend time with Janet, Rubin and Juliet was great. They are such good people. Getting to meet so many wonderful dancers was priceless.

You need to check out this great event next year.
