Subject: Jo Thompson Szymanski's upcoming Bone Marrow Transplant
Update from her husband Tim Szymanski:

Jo was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia in 2004, gave birth to our perfectly healthy daughter Anna in 2005, and following Jo's treatment her Aplastic Anemia went into remission. Today Jo feels totally normal, but her bone marrow is once again abnormal.  She now has "MDS - Myelodysplastic Syndrome" requiring a Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant using Jo's brother as a donor.

If all goes as planned, Jo will start the bone marrow/stem cell transplant in mid-October at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.  She will be in the hospital for 3-4 weeks and then be an outpatient for 3 months to follow.  After that, once she is released from MD Anderson, her complete recovery could take 6 months to one year.

Keep up with Jo's progress by reading our Blog.  www.jothompson.blogspot.com.  Jo has 3 more line dance events to attend before she starts her transplant...Dancing for the Dream events in Illiopolis, IL and McKeesport, PA, and Windy City in Chicago.

Many have asked about donating to help with Jo's expense's. We currently have health insurance, but it will not begin to handle the expenses that are not covered such as relocating to Houston, travel expenses and lodging for Jo's caretaker, etc.  It is impossible to know how much those expenses will add up to be.

To avoid any legal repercussions with giving/receiving donations for all parties involved, we were advised to create a specific bank account to accept donations legally. This will also allow those who donate a 100% tax deduction for the donation.  Each person who donates will receive a letter of "thank you for your donation" to be used for your tax deductions in 2011.

The donations will be handled through the 501c3 non-profit organization "Dancing for the Dream, Inc" which Jo co-founded with music artist Scooter Lee. This corporation is licensed to accept donations for the Dancing For The Dream Fund. The funds donated for Jo will go directly to help cover Jo's expenses.

Checks should be made out to:  Dancing For The Dream Fund.
In the "Memo/For" line on the bottom of the check please put "Jo Thompson Szymanski".

Dancing For The Dream Fund
PO Box 941505
Atlanta, GA 31141

If you would like to use your credit card, you can call 1-800-531-4379 to donate over the phone and that donation will be put into the Dancing For The Dream Fund Account for Jo. Just tell Traci, Donna or John that you are making a "tax deductible" donation to Jo.

When Jo's treatment is completed, if there are any funds left in the account they will be donated to Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation along with possibly  other charities to be determined at a later date.

Some have asked about holding fundraising events for Jo...thank you!  We request that you contact us first to get the guidelines for doing so.  Also, T-shirts, pins, and bracelets have been made in Jo's honor and will be made available soon.

Thank you so much for your willingness to help.  We are overwhelmed at the generosity and love from the dance community.  What a great group of people we are blessed to know through dance!

Cards and letters are appreciated also.  Until the completion of her treatment Jo is receiving mail at the following address:

Jo Thompson Szymanski
c/o The Smith Family
22 Rymwick Court
The Woodlands, Texas 77381

Keep those prayers and positive thoughts coming!  It will help Jo to get back on the dance floor as soon as possible!

Take care,

Tim Szymanski

I have finally gotten the dances posted to the website for our next two Sunday workshops.  So much to do, so little time....

On Sunday, October 17 (that's TOMORROW) we will be in Belleview, FL at the Dancing Shadows for our Belleview NewLine workshop.  Our dances to be taught there are as follows:

BOX IT UP- Craig Bennett

SMOOTH OPERATOR - Luna, Barr, Schrank

CYCLONE - Rachael McEnaney

EURO MESS - Poulsen, Kinser, Trepat

FALL APART - Dee Musk

On Sunday, Oct 24, 2010, we have our Orlando NewLine workshop at the Whirl & Twirl Club in Orlando, FL.  The dances we have selected for this workshop are as follows:

NOTHIN' BETTER by Neville Fitzgerald and Julie Harris

BLUE SKY by Niels Poulsen

BLACK SWEAT by Maurice Rowe and Roberto Corporan

WRITTEN IN THE STARS by Shaz Walton

If you are in our neighborhood on one of these days, we would love to have you join us!
