I'm finally getting back to reality and getting over jet lag. Why is it so much harder to come home from the West Coast than to go there? I was not tired when I was there and since I've been home all I want to do is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. LOL. Today I feel pretty energetic so I'm going to get back to work. Hope you got to read my report. I had all these cool photos and video links that just wouldn't send in the email, grrrr. I'm hoping Stacy can add them back when she puts the report on the site and I'll send you the link if she can. I'm still waiting on more reports from the weekend events so if you just posted them somewhere else, please copy and send them to me so I can post them for the people who aren't on social media. Just send them to tka...@aol.com and I'll add them here and Stacy will add them under REPORTS FROM OTHERS on the web site. Thanks to those of you who have sent them already. There are a couple of good ones in the newsletter today so enjoy reading them. We are gearing up now for the Florida Line Dance Classic (affectionately called Not Tampa) in Orlando. It will always be the Tampa Event to those of us who have gone for many years but it will be fun to see all the Christmas decorations in Orlando and I'm sure people will have fun exploring the parks and the ice shows and just being in the fun capital of the world during the holiday season. I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of you there. If you haven't joined the World Line Dance Newsletter Group on Facebook, there are some more photos there that I have added and I will be adding more. The group is for sharing new dances (since we stopped doing it awhile ago) and for you to talk to each other IN ADDITION to what you share in the newsletter. Check it out when you get a chance. There are already over 1000 people on there.

Arrived home from the Vegas Dance Explosion at 5:30AM Monday due to plane delays! Thank goodness we were traveling with Carol Craven, who is so entertaining that the many hours in the airport weren’t so bad, but the drive home from Tampa at 3AM wasn’t fun. Recovering today after a full day of classes yesterday!
This event amazes me each year. There is no other like it. Wednesday night Doug announced 740 dancers had arrived (we among them) and the rest danced in on Thursday for a total of 1,529 dancers. The huge ballrooms were decorated, the awesome Line Dance lobby with seating everywhere was filled with vendors, food options and decorated with flags from all countries present plus photos of all the instructors, all rooms had fantastic sound systems, several DJs working hard, and those 1500+ dancers having a ball. I hope you experience this event at some time in your dance life. I was so happy to see people here I hadn’t seen in a long time and somehow, the whole week just flew by.
Each night the instructors put on a different show for us, professional and entertaining. We also like the Sunday morning Praise and Workshop in the line dance lobby, where Doug and Jackie planned 5 dances to inspirational songs along with short scripture readings and thankfulness for our many blessings. Class act!
Sooooooo many dances taught and re-taught on different days at different times so we could catch up on missed ones. Vegas has so much to offer in addition to the event that most go sight-seeing during the week, as we did. We enjoyed the Celine Dion concert (incredible), Freemont Street at night, lunch at the Flamingo, dinner at Peppermill, the Motown singers from D & J’s Pigeon Forge theater, and at different times we traveled in a limo, public bus and the Monorail right outside the door at the Westgate! All easy to navigate and we really like this hotel for it’s convenient location.
THANK YOU Doug and Jackie for this weekend experience above all others. You are so talented and your organizational skills amaze all of us. True entertainment specialists! Kudos also to your support staff who have your back all weekend. The registration desk – do those gals ever get to go home? They are always there, smiling and ready to help you out with any questions. We had an absolutely great time and appreciate all your hard work, and your personal attention to everyone, like taking first time choreographers out for Taco Bell at 3AM?
Please, go rest!
I will be going through the dance classes I took and teach some of these new ones starting with my Wednesday night class in Ocala for Intermediate/Advanced crowd. Ray and I have a full week of family obligations so the rest will be on hold. Have a blessed week everyone!

Finally, with PES subsiding, I can share my thoughts about my first Vegas Dance Explosion. In a word: PHENOMENAL!
Doug & Jackie Miranda, I really wanted to meet you, but every time I saw you, a song came on that I HAD to dance to. (Darn those DJ’s!)
PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS:
* Meeting people from all over the world -- Europe, Malaysia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska -- including an adorable 82-year old still dancing.
* Dressing as Rebecca Lee for costume night and dancing New Thang and Clap Snap with her.
* Video screens showing what’s being played in all 3 rooms. (This is a HUGE help to sore feet, eliminating the need to run from room to room to see what’s playing.)
* The dance lobby!
* Choreography winners do a one-wall demo after their award. This is great for those of us who didn’t attend the competition.
* Doing the Barn Dance for the first time.
* Watching the extraordinary number of choreographers still on the dance floor late at night. Kudos to Louis St.George for reaching into the archives and playing their classics – especially Jo Thompson Szymanski's -- and keeping them dancing till the wee hours. (Based on the “likes” I received to my videos of Cotton Eyed Joe, Dance Ranch Romp, Swingin’ R’s, Razor Sharp, many folks loved this as well. As an aside, it boggles my mind how the younger dancers know Jo’s and other classics that are 10 - 20 years old. I wonder what dances we are doing now will be the classics in 20 years.)
SHOWS:
I adored the shows. The choreographers teach during the day, dance and amuse us to the wee hours of the morning and ALSO choreograph and give a dazzling performance in these shows. I don’t know how they do it!

WISH LIST – JUST TWO MINOR ITEMS:
* Personally, I prefer live demos. I just couldn’t get a feel for them on the TV as they were rather short (1-wall), quite “vanilla” and poor sound.
* The pool is closed with temps in the 70s and clear skies? (This is not a VDE thing; it was explained to me that’s common in Vegas. But WHY? It seems to me they could at least keep the pool deck open to lounge around.)

From the Vegas Dance Explosion I taught two easy Intermediate Dances tonight.
Boots by Maddison Glover, cute and so well choreographed. It was fun to dance!
Second dance was For Once in My Life by Michael Barr. I like this "feel good" dance and the song by Stevie Wonder.
Reviewed Beautiful Wonderful by Debbie, Extreme Love by Niels, Hurts Like a Cha Cha, Team International,
Change My Ways, Roy Verdonk (thanks Darlene), and Intrigue, Rob Fowler, plus dances a few others.
It was a good night and thanks to all those who came to dance.
No Wednesday class next week due to Thanksgiving but we will have class the next Wednesday

I want to thank everyone for the support they have shown for my newest dance: Christmas ( Baby Please Come Home). Because of your interest in my dance it is currently #17 on Copperknob. Unfortunately I made a mistake in the instructions leaving out a tag/restart that is needed to make the dance flow smoothly. I have resubmitted the step sheet to both Copperknob and Linedancer and just wanted to alert everyone to the revisions. If you have printed off a copy of the dance you might want to go and get the revised version.

Great to be back at class after such a long break. Unfortunately had to leave Celia at home as she had been in pain all day, thanks once again to Betty for looking after the door for me. Finally got round to teaching “CRYBABY” ( Gary O' Reilly & Helen O'Malley), hadn’t taught anything since 4th October and this was down for the week after but with class closures for illness and holidays it’s taken until now to do it. Well it was certainly worth it, the class loved it. Lots of recaps needed which included “OPEN YOUR EYES” (Maggie G), “STORY OF A HEART” (Michelle Risley) & “BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL” (Debbie Rushton)

Tim and I would like to send out a Big Thank You to everyone who joined us for the Pipestem Line Dance Weekend in Pipestem, WV this past weekend. So much fun, such a great group of dancers and we appreciate the support over the years! This is a nice getaway weekend weather permitting you can play golf, hike, sit in the lobby catch up with old friends or new friends or sit a read a book and enjoy some line dancing in between. Dances taught Friday night 7-9 and Sat 12:00-4:00 were Lipstick Tango (Michele Burton), Funk It Out! (Niels Poulsen), Eyes For You (Jo Thompson Szymanski), Swagger Hips (Chris Watson & Linda Burgess), Turn The Beat Up (Maddison Glover), Pants On Fire (Lisa M. Johns-Grose, Put It On Me (Cody Flowers & Maddison Glover), Dance Her Home (Rob Fowler), All Katchi, All Night Long (Kerry Maus), I Got A Woman (Michael Desire Nieto), Got A Hole In My Pocket (Rosie Multari & Jo Thompson Szymanski), Midnight Walk (Frank Trace), Club Savoy (Rick Todd), I've Got Mexico (Roger Neff), Soul City (Kim Ray), Havana Ooh-Na-Na (Julia Wetzel), The Evening News Waltz (Double Trouble), Slow Hands (Jose Miguel Belloque Vane) and A Little Bit Lit (Rob Fowler). We really do try to teach something for all levels from Beginner to Intermediate so everyone gets to dance throughout the weekend! We also had Olivia Ray to do a teach on Legends and Heroes(Jack Swanson and Aly Glasier). Of course during Open Dancing so many of all of our favorites with Craving You by Donnie Allen and Lisa Johns-Grose, Champage Promise, Lonely Drum, Moving Hips to Fire Ball, Uptown EZ Funk, Ticket To The Blues, Gypsy Queen, Rita's Waltz just a few so many more! Hope you will put us on your calendar for next year as we will return to Pipestem Nov 9-11th. We also want to thank the girls and I feel so bad I did not get everyone's names, but excellent job on the special routine for our Veterans joining us for the weekend!
