Monday 11/5/2012 I HOPE EVERYONE VOTES!! No matter who you are
voting for, please vote in the Election tomorrow. If you remember, the
last time it was about a 560 vote spread so don't think yours doesn't
count.
We had a GREAT time in Tampa. I think
every dancer in Florida was there and it's like a great big party. I'll be
doing a report and I'm sure other people will, too. If you posted pictures
on Facebook and would like to share them, please send me the link and I'll add
it to the report. I think people can view pictures that way. There's
a video of Simon on Youtube dancing Hairspray. Priceless. You
have to envision him going into a women's store to try on this tight dress and
then not being able to take it off without help and then going to Target to try
on Size 11 heels in the middle of the aisle. That guy is nuts!!
LOL. Jodie Ermlich took the video and it's posted on FB at this
link. I don't know if you can see it if you're not friends. I also
shared it on my page.
If she posted it on Youtube, I'll try to get the link. Thanks,
Jodie. I think you might have the only video.

SUBJECT: Dancin’ With
Marilyn, Ocala, Fl
FROM: Marilyn McNeal, BoarsN...@aol.com Still
dancing in my head as I write this after a fabulous weekend at Jen & Jason’s
Tampa Bay Line Dance Classic. It was SO much fun! Tons of dance, plenty of
variety on all dance floors as Deejays Louie, JP and Olivia played everything,
including classic dances that got our memories working hard!
Tampa Bay
Classic event creator, Arline Winnerman, was there to greet us and also emcee
the Pro-Am contest. She looked amazing and it was wonderful to see her smiling.
We all love Arline and pray for her continued good health.
Saturday’s theme
was the Roaring 20’s and many dressed up for it. I truly enjoyed being Ray
the Mobster’s babe! Dressing up as flappers made everyone look and feel
younger! Even the 50/50 winner just had to “dance” her way onto the floor
to pick up her loot! The atmosphere was happy and festive!
DANCES
My
dances were 50 WAYS, by Pat Stott, and HIS ONLY NEED, by Ria Vos. Thanks to
everyone who came to my classes. I really enjoyed dancing both of these with
you!
My personal weekend favorites: Windy City Waltz(Simon), Drive By(Daniel
Whittaker), taught by John, How You Gonna(Will Craig), Through the Fire(Jo T.
& Scott) & I Wanna taught by Michael, Big City(Bracken), Hairspray
(Rachael & Simon), Soul Fire(Ria) taught by Sandy, Skiffle Time (Darren
Bailey) taught by Junior of course! Max and Kathy brought back two of our
all-time favorites, Texas and Slow Burn. I missed Neville & Julie’s Skyfall
but heard the music playing and must check this one out.
In Ocala we’re
already dancing Back it Up (Darren Bailey)taught by Michele, Love Me or Leave Me
& Martini Time(Frank Trace), I Like it, I Like it & Ray of Light(Simon),
Straight to Memphis(Kate Sala) and many of the beginner dances.
New
choreographers to this event who entertained us with their own distinctive
styles were Lorenzo Evans(Soul Food) who had the crowd laughing. From across the
pond came Nicola Lafferty and Emily Drinkall, young, pretty, talented and
exceptional dancers. Check the schedule for all dances taught. It was a great
lineup!
PRO-AM
I had the honor of dancing His Only Need with Min Lee in
her very first competition. She won a Silver Medal and I hope she is now
inspired to enter more competitions in the future! CONGRATULATIONS Min!
All 8 contestants did a great job performing and I congratulate all of you!
It was fun just being in that room with so much energy and encouragement from
the crowd, who cheered with appreciation for everyone’s efforts.
THE SHOW
Saturday Night theme was the Roaring 20’s and the show was one
of the best ever at this event. Performers were dressed in costumes from that
era, including emcee Rosie, who was just great. A team opened the show and
closed the show. Guyton and Will’s mime act was exceptional. Each
performance complimented the next. It was long enough and short enough,
colorful, funny, musical, memorable and an enjoyable experience for me as a
participant. Our number was carefully planned by John Robinson, since several of
us are not performers. Simon, Nicola and Emily’s act stole the show. The gals
were great - and Simon? Well, you just had to be there – we won’t forget it, I
promise you!
Thank you Jen and Jason, for having me on staff again this year,
for providing us with another opportunity to enjoy this hobby we all love, and
for being great people. I enjoyed this time with friends, dancing, learning,
laughing and was happy to meet new folks this weekend too!
These events have
become even more meaningful as the years pass. We all have lost friends and
loved ones in a year’s time, or know those struggling with illness or aches and
pains that weren’t here a year ago. So we gather, dance, laugh, catch up with
friends and go home feeling refreshed and grateful for this short time together.
We’ll see many of you again in Vegas in two weeks, in my own classes, or
online writing about your own favorite dance choices.

Workshops at the Hayloft in Sturbridge Ma.
From: donnas...@yahoo.com
It was another fantastic workshop at the
Hayloft. Forty taught a couple of classics,Geek In The Pink and Yes You
Won't by the wonderful Johanna Barnes. Farewell by Jr Willis,Debbie
McLaughlin and Joey Warren. We relearned Bossa Nova Baby by Guyton Munday
and then reviewed the dances we did at the last workshop,Together
Forever,Whatever Happens,Just A Matter Of Time and Shame and Scandal In
The Family. What a great idea, doing the new ones as well as some
classics.
Forty is having these intermediate workshops the first
Saturday of every month and if you like more friendly dances, she is teaching
them the last Saturday of the month. She always has something for
everyone.
We had a terrific time with plenty of laughs and by the
end of the day.....sore feet.

Re: Looking for
music
From: Sharon "Sharooni" Lamb sharo...@hotmail.com
Line dance lessons have begun at
our local YMCA and I am still picking out dances and looking for music. My
goodness there are so many but for my class, the music drives whether they want
to learn the dance. They like upbeat music with good beats. I know
one my class will like is NY Rain by Vangie Ibasan but I am not finding the
music which is Sunshine in the Rain by BWO. Any help would be
appreciated.
I do want to tell you all about a couple of dances I
taught Thursday night. I look long and hard for beginner dances and with
good reason. I will almost always have some dancers that have never danced
before (not even the electric slide) and Thursday was no exception. I had
a little dance I had spotted a while back and been planning to teach it.
This year was the year and I hope those who are looking for easy, beginner
and/or senior dances I hope you will try this one. It's called Easy Ride
by Helena Sundstrom. It's only 16 counts, no tags, no restarts, no
syncopation. The music is Let it Roll, Let it Ride by the Cherry Bombs and
has a 60s' rock 'n roll feel which appeals to a lot of people.
For
the intermediates I decided to teach Country Girl by Rob Fowler. I have
always liked this dance and song (learned it several years ago but not many in
our area ever learned it). The class really enjoyed once we got the hang
of it. Will keep you posted as we learn more.

I bought the song "New Flame" from Itunes. New Flame line dance is a Ultra
beginner line dance video that Gail Smith form Georgia had chorographed. My
class loves this dance and Itunes has erased it from my library. Amazon does not
sell it either due to fraud that is on going involving banks. The only place
that is still playing the song is when looking at Gail's video on Youtube.
Please I need to know if anyone can send me this song on a cd. I cannot
upgrade my Ipod or I will lose this song. I did not do a back-up on
a cd. I will always do backups on cds from now on. I don't have Gail Smiths
email address. THis song is by Dr. VIctor and I think it is on the same cd
as "If you wanna be happy". I anyone can help me I would greatly

Naughty But Nice In Nashville Dance Workshop - December 1, 2012
FROM:

Please join John Robinson &
Chris, along with me and Barney, for the 3rd Annual "Naughty but Nice in
Nashville" line dance workshop, scheduled for December 1st at the historic
Nashville Palace (Opryland/Nashville, TN). Registrations are arriving
daily. We are excited with number of friends who have
pre-registered. The workshop is scheduled from 11-5pm. Hopefully, we
will head downtown to the Wild Horse Saloon for dinner and a night of dancing
(depending on if they are booked for a private party.) The workshop is
only $30 which includes a BBQ buffet lunch, all your tea, water and soda for the
day and the step descriptions (sent electronically). Don’t forget to
pre-order your workshop t-shirt! There are several hotels within the
Opryland area. Due to having to submit a number of guests for the BBQ
buffet and ordering shirts, we are asking for pre-registrations by November
15th. Walk-ins will be $20 for the workshop only. One of the special
things about this workshop is we will be teaching some great new dances, but
will be dancing several of our favorites to Christmas music. You will be
surprised at what I come up with! Please contact Jamie at
thejamie...@att.net
(615-207-5207) for a registration form or for additional details. We "ho,
