HAPPY NOVEMBER. COULD SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THE FIRST 10 MONTHS WENT? I NEED TO FIND THEM!

Subject: Motor City Report

From: Tina Foster, tinam...@yahoo.com

We are home from a great weekend at Motor City Dance Classic, the theme this year was The Wizardly World of Motor City (aka Harry Potter inspired).  MCDC is one of my most favorite events of the year and is only a 3 hour drive from home.

1st to our event directors Jason Miller, Eryn Miller, Derek Steele and Tiffany Steele
These 4 try to leave no stone unturned.  The games they play....you had to be there.  Being on staff, it is important to appreciate how well we are taken care of.  Thank you.  A special thank you to Julie Ellis for taking such good care of us in the hospitality suite.

And my fellow instructors, it is so great to work with them and thankful to consider them all my friend. Trevor Andrew Thornton  (and his beautiful wire, Briana Thornton), Chris Jacques, Kerry Maus, Rob Holley, John Robinson, Rona Kaye, Lynne Martino, Jill Kaufman Weiss, Debi Dahl Pancoast, Jill Babinec and Jamie Basham Marshall.  Also Kelly Cavallaro, who imagined the fantastic show for Satuday night and Michael W. Diven, who also DJ'd the 2nd ballroom Friday and Satuday night.  And let's not forget Jp Potter who was the DJ in the main ballroom.  And our photographer extraordinaire, Kellie Harford Cavallaro.

I already posted about Thursday's festivities, except for the floating candles...that is what we were doing until 1am, but we wanted it to be a surprise, Eryn, Jason, Monique LeCunff, Nic LeCunff, Debi, Jill along with a few others hung many battery operated candles of varying sizes from the ceiling in the main ballroom...it.was so super cool.  Eryn your imagination never ceases to amaze me.  Oh and you should see the table decorations Eryn made.  We sure had a decorated ballroom.

Let's not forget the venue, every year you feel like you are coming home, the staff remembers all of us, our rooms are comfortable and the food and waitstaff in the restaurant is by far the best of any event, and not over priced)  Dee and Feruk are amazing, Irvin and I walk in for breakfast, our order is placed almost before we sit down (we always have the same breakfast).

HMT Crafters had a vendor table this year, Heather Cronin, Melissa Willemse and I (and Irvin Foster 's glitter Ornaments) appreciate those that visited and made a purchase at our table.

Now on to my workshops I taught from the weekend.
Friday:
10AM
I'm Mad by Brenda Tunstall Shatto; the ballroom was full, with both 1st timers and those waiting a refresher.

1PM
This workshop was packed, my scheduled dances were:
Glass of Wine by Malene Jakobsen
Who Needs to Know by Josh Talbot

With 20+ minutes left I taught a couple of floor split dances.

Broken Stones by Dee Musk, using Dim the Lights (by Maddison Glover and Simon Ward) music, The Kind of Love We Make by Luke Combs

and

Cowboy Charleston by the infamous "unknown" using Crispy Chicken (by Brandon Zahorsky) music Praise the Lord by Breland

SATURDAY:
3PM Face the Music by Maddison Glover
Had a good group for this fun, peppy dance....

SUNDAY
12PM - the last workshop slot for the weekend.  Honestly, as an instructor you never know if anyone will show up for the class or if they will head home early.  Today, I lucky with 15 showing up.... so I gave them 3 dances, instead of 2

Love Button by Nina Skyrud
I Still Fall for You by Darren Bailey
and
Just a Little Mad by Tina Foster (me)

A big thank you to those who helped Irvin take down all of the balloons and the candles from the ceiling.

My last great big THANK YOU is to all of you that attended MCDC 2023.  Without you, there wouldn't be an event and I would not have met so many amazing people.  And the HUGS this weekend ❤️🧡💛.

My feet hurt, my body is sore...but my heart is full.

Time for bed, I just have 3 1/2 days to pull it together before I head out to New York State of the (NYSOL).

Until we share the same dance floor...be safe, be happy and dance.

The NTA is a worldwide dancer's personal trainer and coaching program. We produce better dancers, dance teachers and choreographers. The NTA dance education program is taught using a progressive learning method. Starting with the feet and how to use them properly, going through proper body movement for each pattern, including proper dance frame, balance, control, safe body mechanics, proper terminology, etc.

We offer Dance Fundamentals (DF) levels (dance basics used by both line and couples’ dancers) which also includes a level on music for dancers/choreographers. We also offer our couples school figures (SF) program which includes teaching many patterns using proper lead and follow technique for many dances like Two Step, Swing, Cha, etc.

Contact me at de...@cleckler.com  or Julie Griggs at grigg...@yahoo.com , or Mike Salerno at ksdan...@aol.com  for more information. (These are the NTA trainers in the US. If you are in another country, I can direct you to your persons there.)

We highly recommend that the average person take the courses at least two times before testing for accreditation (if you want/need that). For those social dancers wanting to better themselves, just take a workshop or two each year without testing for anything. It is well worth your time spent.

How to Vote in the Weekly Survey

Reminder from Carol

Please do not number the votes 1-8, send me extra things, or put the name on one line and the other information on another line, it saves me time because I have to erase all extra things and spacing and formatting before I can sort. Thanks, as always, for your votes. Classes, socials, and events are starting again and we NEED to know what dances most people will know or want to know so your vote is important.
