NOTE FROM ME: I am home from the Celebration of Life for my brother in Pensacola, Fl. It was an amazing celebration of my brother with about 100 of his friends of many years at his favorite place that had been open since the 1940s, called the Flight Deck. If you are ever in the area, stop in and have a drink and tell them Jerry Cummings sent you. He wanted a crawfish boil with New Orleans style sides and open bar for all his friends and he got it. I heard so many stories about my crazy brother who truly was one-of-a-kind and he had friends from every walk of life. He taught English for over 30 years at Escambia High School and wrote little short stories about the people and places in this area he always loved. Our family has lived in Pensacola for many generations. He was my last sibling and I miss him very much. I brought his little Schnauzer home to live with me. Her name is Daisy, like my other dog named Daisy, so I get four eyes staring at me every time I say that name. I'm trying to get the new Daisy to come to Daisy Mae but so far it's still four eyes starting at me. Ollie the monster cat is still trying to figure it all out. I think they may end up being friends. He is very curious about our new addition. I know Jerry would be happy that she is with me. Don't you always worry about who will care for your animals when you are no longer able to? I had always planned to adopt an older dog who had lost its owner for some reason or other but I didn't plan for that to be my brother. She is so sweet and well behaved except for peeing on my rug last night but we discussed it and I don't think she will do it again. Even if she does, my son taught me how to use the carpet shampooer this morning so I will discuss it with her again. Anyway, I'm somewhat back and will get the routine restarted today. Thanks to Cheryl Hurlburt for managing the class while I was gone and for her and Jai Tropiano teaching dances last night and thanks to Stacy Garcia for compiling and posting on the FB Page the survey for last week. I sent it out to the email group this morning. So what to teach??? People asking for this and that. Been out of it for a while so I could just bring back oldies… but I guess that’s just not me when someone sends me a piece of music…
This one hit me to the bone so I said yes… thank you Christopher Gonzalez… I hope I do this one justice."

Lodging Special at the Quality Inn in Martinsville. 276-666-6835. Ask for the "Line Dance Workshop" rate. See you June 15th! ![]() ![]() Subject: FLOOR SPLITS AT EVENTS I spent 90 minutes last week finally learning Maddison's masterpiece NEVER GONNA NOT DANCE AGAIN in anticipation of The Fort Wayne Dance for all.
But there are people who need something more relaxed for Pink's wonderful song.... a song that speaks to us and will probably be around for a long time at events.
I found a great one by Lynn Card. It's called NEVER GONNA NOT DANCE AGAIN EZ...and it is. It fits the music quite welI too. I recommend event attendees grab it up for themselves. I am hoping to see it as a floor split at Fort Wayne next weekend.🤞
This could be a thing.
I believe our talented and beloved instructor/choreographers could be making their OWN floor split dances to songs for which they have created a higher end dance.
The possibilities are pretty handy for them.
They may have a slot to teach in the beginner/improver room.
They could teach both dances the same day and make an event in itself for Open Dance that night.
Step By Step,
Life's a Dance,
Keri Tongue

How to Vote in the Weekly Survey List up to 8 of your favorites with choreographer and level if you know it and email to me at tka...@aol.com before 6:30 PM EDT on Sunday. Please add the choreographer and level of the dance if you know it. |
Reminder from Carol Please do not number the votes 1-8, send me extra things, or put the name on one line and the other information on another line, it saves me time because I have to erase all extra things and spacing and formatting before I can sort. Thanks, as always, for your votes. Classes, socials, and events are starting again and we NEED to know what dances most people will know or want to know so your vote is important. |
