Right... so ... for those who will be venturing out into the frozen wasteland and battling their way through snow drifts, driving wind and cheerfully waving at nutters in swimming gear.. to get to their dance club or dance social. You might wanna take a couple of good dances with you to impress the 'not dancin' yet - i'm too cold' crowd.

One is rather festive with a Vaudeville feel to it - so get geared up:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WH-B2Z5U07A
(Hsiu-Fang Liu: Phrased Intermediate)

this one is pure fun with a theme and is exceptionally well Choreographed:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3AsVZkqgVuA
(Leong Mei Ling:Phrased Intermediate)
- check out the other great vids for this dance as well -

..or if you just wanna let your hair down and have full on care free dance:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts4QDDwMN6k
(William Sevone: 32 count Advanced Beginner)

If you want to go for a 'circle' but non partner dance with a traditional song then search out the script for "DRIVING HOME" (William Sevone: 32 count Advanced Beginner) The dance has now been seen in a number of Countries over the last three years - but alas, still no video.

SUBJECT:  Peter Metelnick & Alison Biggs ‘rock’ The Villages!

Betty Mullon held her annual workshop with Peter & Alison this past Sunday in the Villages and it was a wonderful evening with this talented couple. The new venue had a large dance floor and there was a stage as well for Peter & Alison to teach from. There were plenty of nibbles to keep us going and lots of social dancing between the new dances taught. There was a great energy in the room and the dance floor was full for all the lessons.

5 dances were taught, along with a quick walk thru of Peaches & Cream with Alison.

There was something for everyone including:

Tumbling Rush – a real favorite on the night this was great to dance to and really fits both songs so well. There are 2 songs to choose from, and the dancers’ favourite was Flashdance.

Baby Believe – a beautiful waltz with some lovely steps to an equally beautiful song by former American Idol singer Kristy Lee Cook. Alison really took her time teaching us this one giving us a lot of technique & styling tips as well. This is a classy dance.

Pacifico – a brand new one from Peter & Alison, no step sheet yet but coming soon (please!). This dance kick started the night and it was great and in the same league as A Cowboy And A Dancer, Holding Back The Ocean and Walk Back To Me.

2 improver dances were also taught – Putting On The Ritz and Stop Right Now. Putting On the Ritz has the unique tap dancing tag, and Stop Right Now has the stop sign arm movement on all the ‘stops’. Both were great fun to learn and dance.

We went home with happy tired feet and some terrific new dances. Thanks to Peter & Alison, and Betty for bringing them back to the Villages. We look forward to seeing them again next year. It’s a shame they won’t be in Tampa, but we’re delighted that we can see them again at Worlds in Orlando at the end of the year.
