TUESDAY 11/10
What a great turnout of the Tampa After Party last night. We
celebrated Nico's birthday with his wife, Francien, and lots of new friends to
both of them. It has been so nice getting to meet both Francien and
Nico. I love seeing a couple who both love to dance and he's as
enthusiastic as she is. Neville and Julie came and taught and socialized
and it is always great to have them stay after the event. People shared
lots of goodies and it was just a fun evening. It was good to see so many
people stay after the weekend for this annual party. I wish you could
all stay forever!! Thanks to Arline and Diane and Dallas for
getting everything together ahead of time and helping with the party and thanks
to everyone who brought something to share and just had a fun night
together!! Oh, and now I know who a lot more of the Jersey Girls
are. LOL
Stacy kept track of what was taught and Julie and I will try to
remember some of the ones we danced:
Dances taught last night were:
Louisiana Swing (This is a fun, easy, country one
that we do and like at Roundup, also)
Human Dancer (I had wanted to learn
this one.)
Beautiful Tena - taught by Francien Sittrop (I was happy she
taught this one. I love the music.)
Straight Thru - taught by Neville
Fitzgerald (Glad to have the review on this one.)
3 D - taught by Maurice
Rowe (This is the first beginner one he's done in awhile. Give it a
try.)
Rain Against My Window (this one filled the floor this weekend)
So
Glamorous - taught by Francien Sittrop (A classic that everyone brought
back in anticipation of her visit)
We danced some of these (as well as many more)
HANDS UP, Craig Bennett. I think this is going to be a huge dance for
Craig. It's easy but not boring, the music is fun and uplifting, and the
dance is just fun and anyone can do it. I predict this is going to move up
the survey fast.
ARGENTINA. This is a fun dance that was taught by Maggie over the
weekend. We struggled a little with it to remember it but then Julie
danced it with us and it all came back. I'm sure we'll keep this one going
in the Tuesday class.
WHY SO SERIOUS, Neville and Julie, CAN'T GET INVOLVED, Neville and Julie,
MAKE MY DAY, Francien, PLAYING WITH FIRE, Craig Bennett, POKER FACE, Craig
Bennett, WHY DID YOU LIE, Hey, Mama, Scott Blevins; LIFE WITHOUT YOU, Maggie G.,
TOES, Rachael M., SHOES OF ANOTHER MAN -- I love this one. HEADS UP,
Teresa and Vera, CABO SAN LUCAS, Rep Gazali (easy dance and I really like it --
thanks to Ann doing it with me every week.) I'M MOVING ON, Craig Bennett
(I was so happy he brought this back at the event. It's one of my all-time
favorite dances and we do it at every event because everyone loves it.
Beautiful music, fast waltz.) SISTER KATE, Vos. (What a darling
dance!!! You cannot just sit there and not want to learn this dance.
It is just cute and fun!!) JIG IT UP 09 by Maggie G. (This is an
easy, fast, fun jig, of course.) Every level and class will enjoy
it. Hypnotized, Francien. BAD INFLUENCE, Kinser and Furnell (I
really want to learn this one AGAIN. I learned it at the event but it went
out of my head.) BAD INFLUENCE (Kinsers and Furnell).
I'm glad they are finally getting some recognition for their dances. They
should have been getting it long before now because they have done some really
good dances that got totally missed!! MOJO RHYTHM, Rob Fowler.
HIT THE LIGHTS, Francien, FIONA, Michael Barr (another one that filled the floor
in Tampa as did a lot of the ones we did last night). IF I COULD
CHANGE, Ruben Luna. One of my favs of the weekend. I would say this
is a high int-adv dance but I love the music and it's worth learning. I
know we will keep doing it in our class.
(Thanks Stacy and Julie for helping me remember. Wow!! We did a
lot!!)

SUBJECT: “A TASTE OF
TAMPA BAY LINE DANCE CLASSIC 2009”
FROM: Ira Weisburd (Boca Raton,
Florida)
This was my first time at the TAMPA BAY LINE DANCE CLASSIC and I had a BALL
!! For years I had heard so many good things about this event, but never
had the opportunity till now to actually be a part of it. I take “MY HAT”
off to Arline Winerman (figuratively and actually speaking), for being one of
the most “gracious” hostesses. This was the first time I met Arline and
she is bigger than life itself. She doesn’t miss a single detail and is a
real hands on director. Thank you Arline for making me and over 500 other
teachers, choreographers and dancers feel so welcome from the moment we arrived
till the very end of the weekend.
The choreographers all did a fantastic job. I enjoyed meeting all of
them, seeing new friends and making many new acquaintances. There were so
many dances to learn and it will take weeks or more to just sort them out.
It was often difficult to pick the classes that one wanted to go to and
therefore I couldn’t possibly go to every class; but, I tried really hard.
Nevertheless, the ones that I particularly loved and believe are worth looking
at are: MOONLIGHT MADNESS, QUEEN OF THE DANCE FLOOR, BORN TO BE
BLUE, SWINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, RUMBA BREEZE, LOUISIANA SWING, THIS & THAT,
& BEAUTIFUL TENA.
The “sleeper hit” for me from the weekend was the new Francine Sittrop
dance called: “BEAUTIFUL TENA” !! It is a gorgeous rhumba/bolero that
Francine says came from the Croatian entry of this year’s EUROVISION
Contest. I only wish she had taught it the first day of the weekend, so
that more people would have had a chance to dance it a few more times.
I’m sure you’ll all hear much more about Maggie G in the coming days.
She certainly made big splash at this event. I can’t begin to tell you how
many people were drawn to her for her “charisma, charm and energy”. She
literally blew us all away at the talent show with her Irish dancing. The
next morning her last class was filled to the brim with over 150 “MAGGIE WANNA
BE’S” !!
John Robinson, never disappoints his audience either. He makes
learning a ‘fun’ experience and whatever he does, he does with all his heart and
soul. He really gave it his all in his “HUMAN DANCER”
performance. The audience roared !!
He also caught me by surprise at his first workshop on Friday afternoon,
when he announced that he was going to teach my dance “SEDUCED” by Rob
Rio. (If anyone did not get a step sheet at the weekend and would like
one, please send me an e-mail:
dancew...@comcast.net). Here
is a link to the dance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKg5aMZoD24
. Thank you once again John. I knew you were planning on teaching it
at some of your upcoming events, but I never expected it here.
It was also a real pleasure meeting for the first time Amy Christian-Sohn,
Michael Barr and Michelle Burton, Junior Willis, Neville Fitzgerald, Rob Glover,
Vivienne Scott, Mark Cosenza, Bracken Ellis-Potter, Glen Pospieszny, Big Dave
& Ferrill Mazzato. DJ Louie St. George was amazing !! His sound
system and programming was superb !!
Thank you Stacy for introducing me to Carol Craven. I finally got to
meet her and tell her how much her newsletter has helped so many of us get our
names and dances out there. We all owe her a debt of gratitude.
Finally, here’s a “Taste” of the Tampa Line Dance Classic (a short
clip of Arline’s stint in the Saturday night talent show).
She got me to do a cameo with her. Here are two short clips.
Enjoy!

Morning Dancers,
Well where did the time go. I’m happy to bring you the news we will
be having the benefit again next April, we’re locking down a new facility
with a new charity that we’re working with as well. Because of certain
issues, if this was going to happen we had to involve more people. I’m
happy to share that next year we will be supporting a new Charity and working
hand in hand with The Muscular Dystrophy Association. We’ve had to change
a few things to accommodate for our sponsor, next year our benefit will be April
25th, 2010. (No it’s not a typo we’ve changed the date to a Sunday) Our
staff has changed and returning next year will be Earleen Florka of Diamondback
Saloon, Jason Miller from Rock ‘N’ Country will be on staff and new comers to
the benefit I am glad to share will be Double Trouble, Cathy Montgomery and
Kathy Kazmarek along with myself, Peggy and Heather Frye. The workshop
itself will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. there will be no evening dance but are
planning to have a location as a welcome dance that Saturday. More
information to follow we have reformatted the whole workshop. The price
will remain the same and the other part of the good news is that this will
include a meal (brunch like dinner), we will have early snacks and desert with
cash bar for all to enjoy. Look for further information to follow toward
Thanksgiving. Any questions feel free to email me at

Swing & Line Dance Event
Dana Farber
During a fundraiser dance this summer for one of our dancers undergoing
cancer treatment, it became very clear where we should focus our fundraising
efforts this year. At one point during the night, everyone who had battled
cancer and/or had a family member or friend with the disease was asked to come
out to the dance floor and form a circle. Out of a room with over 200 people,
about 99% were out on the dance floor... it was truly staggering.
So, this year Joe & Kathy Mahoney have partnered up with Dana-Farber
Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
"The Jimmy Fund has raised more than $600 million since it was founded in
1948. More than 90 cents per dollar raised is directed toward Dana-Farber's
ultimate goal - eradicating cancer and related diseases, and the fear they
engender."
WIN A TRIP FOR TWO!
This year Joe & Kathy are selling tickets
for a chance to win a Vacation for 2! You can choose one of three destinations:
Aruba (Limited Dates), Florida or Las Vegas. This will include 7 Days & 6
Nights Accommodations, Airfare and Rental Car. The trip is valued over $3,000.00
and could be yours for a donation of $20.00 to Dana-Farber.
HOW TO ENTER!
Make a check out to Dana Farber or The Jimmy Fund for
$20.00 and mail it to the address below and we will add you to the Opportunity

START THE YEAR OUT RIGHT! Come to a great
event and kick off 2010. Worlds is Jan 4-10, 2010. See you
there!
Happy Fall! I hope you took a minute to enjoy the wonderful colors of
the season (for those of us have the change of seasons). Because of the
rain we received this year, I must say that our region was one of the most
beautiful Falls I can remember. There is nothing like feeling the wind and
looking out to see all the yellow, orange, red leaves as they release themselves
and slowing float to the ground. God sure does know what he's doing,
huh!
Now, before I start into details about the 2010 Ft. Wayne Dance for All
(March 4 - 7th), please read the following:
Everyone who reads this... There
is a 5yrs old and he's in the last stages of neuroblastma cancer and is loosing
his battle that he has been fighting for 2 1/2 yrs. His family is celebrating
Christmas this coming week and all Nash wants is Christmas cards. Lets try and
see how many cards we can get to him. Please this is true and verified.
Please Please help out!!! Noah Biorkman 1141 Fountain View Circle South Lyon MI
48178. Also take a moment to be thankful for your healthy family and pray
for friends and loved ones during this tough time. As you hear others say
things like how they are not ready for Christmas, money, economy, etc....please
think and remind them for the true reason for the season. Gifts of the
heart are priceless! I hope that you will take a couple of hours to
volunteer.
Also, please keep Bev Semeniuk (Bev's In-Line) (Northville, MI) in your
prayers. Bev is doing better and just finished her 2nd round of
chemo. Bev is a "must" at the Dance for All. If you have attended
the event in the past, you know Bev...a beautiful lady with love of dance, love
for her students and a very classy woman.
Now, back to business...
Can you believe it? This past Thursday I saw a sign that said "49"
days until Christmas....We all know how hectic our schedule begins, so this is
our little reminder to get registered for the 2010 Ft. Wayne Dance for All
before it all starts! Be sure to visit our site at
www.ftwaynedanceforall.com for
complete event details. We promise another wonderful weekend of dance,
laughs and just plain ole fun!!! I was working on the show (Life's A
Beach) earlier today and had to laugh out loud! We are truly blessed to
have the staff and more so to have the friends that support us year after
year.
As you know, the Hilton has sold out (THANK YOU). We do have a
waiting list. Contact us with your complete name, address, telephone,
email, arrival/departure date, type of room. The Hilton Garden Inn
still has plenty of rooms. The Ft. Wayne Hotel & Convention Center
(formerly the Clarion or Holiday Inn Downtown), has rooms available as
well. The Ft. Wayne Hotel only 3 blocks away (walking distance), offers a
FREE shuttle from the airport and to the Grand Wayne Convention Center, FREE
breakfast and FREE parking. Our room block rate is only $89 (1-4).
Please be advised that you can find a lower rate on-line. However, I
called the hotel this week and discussed the difference of rates. I was
told that the on-line reservation does not guarantee the type of room (so you
might have to take smoking if you want non-smoking), no breakfast. It's
called something like "last room availablility". They are going thru renovation
and have promised that they will be ready for us! Remember, when you make
your reservations under the room block, it supports the event as well.
We are depending on you to help continue spreading the word. We have
increased the main ballroom space from 9955 (last year), to 16,000 for 2010.
Remember, all pre-registered guests get an early admission ticket for Saturday
night show. There's be plenty of chairs for everyone!! Don't forget
to bring your laptop for the special 2-hour "High Tech DJ...Dancing to your
computer" workshop by Larry Harmon. Three ballrooms are available
for nightly open dancing. Djs Jill Babinec, JP Potter, Tim Hand & Alice
Daughter, and Dan & Angie Keck are sure to keep you moving till wee hours in
the morning. We are excited to have award winning, Amy Christian,
preforming a special routine on Friday night..shortly after the Choreography
competition.
As a special opportunity, the Ft. Wayne Dance for All, is partnering with
Easter Seals Arc of Indiana. The event is offering a challenge to
our guests to help support this wonderful organization. Ballroom dancing
is now part of the Special Olympics, thanks to all the hard work of Steve Hinkle
and friends. You will get to watch a few of these great dancers perform at
the event, in hopes that you will offer a little donation. It's "shoe" to
be a heartfelt blessing watching these dancers move around the floor, dancing
with their hearts. Check them out at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jylt_zlx8Y.
A flyer, registration and the 2010 shirt design (available in t-shirt or
polo) is attached for your convenience. "Snail mail, register on-line and pay
thru Paypal, or you are welcome to call us directly to register
(615-822-7345).
Thank you again for your support and we look forward to seeing everyone in

Subject: The “Eight
Second Ride Line Dance Contest” at Wild Bill’s, Atlanta,
GA
After 3 Preliminary Contests held between late September and early October,
the Final Contest was held on Saturday, November 7 at Wild Bill’s Country Dance
Club & Concert Hall in Atlanta, GA.
We all thank Barry and Dari Anne Amato (
www.thedanceadvantage.com) and
www.barryamato.com), for setting up these
contests around the country and choreographing a great line dance to the song,
Eight Second Ride by Jake Owen. These club contests help show that dancers can
be a great source of new fans and sales for recording artists, and they promote
dance in our communities (always a good thing)!
Fortunately, the Final Contest was held on the same night as the Jake Owen
concert at Wild Bill’s, so it was a very exciting night for all our dancers at
Wild Bill’s! Jake’s concert was awesome, to a crowd of thousands of fans that
filled the 5000 sq. ft. dance floor, and every table/seat all over the club.
The Final Contest of 6 Competitors was held before the concert at 9:15 to a
very attentive crowd who enjoyed the competition, cheered for our
competitors. The final was video taped and was shown to Jake Owen prior to his
concert. After the opening band, Barry (our MC for the contest) presented the
winners to the audience. Our judges for the final were: Dari Anne Amato, Heidi
Lamberg (of The Dance Advantage), Debra Cleckler (NTA Executive Vice President),
Debbie Scott and Rose Haven, (Wednesday Night Line Dance Instructors at Wild
Bill’s).
The 1st place winner of the Wild Bill’s contest was Kristi Hagan. She won a
signed guitar by Jake Owen and a certificate for a pair of Dan Post boots. Our
2nd Place winner was Lisa Thompson, and 3rd Place was Jena Hazlerigs. All six of
our Prelim winners also received free admission to the concert, VIP seating for
the concert, and Meet & Greet tickets to meet Jake after the concert.
Congrats also to our other Prelim winners, Kerri Lessard, Kelly Robertson, and
Jamie Kuashik. All six gals did a terrific job of entertaining the audience and
representing our line dance community!
And if all that wasn’t exciting enough – earlier in the afternoon, line
dancers had the treat of a 2 hour line dance workshop with Barry & Dari Anne
– everyone loved the NEW dances taught, which will be posted at my website (see
above) in a few days.
Needless to say, we can’t wait for the next contest at Wild
Bill’s!

SWINGANG TAMPA NEWS
Dear linedance instructors,
How are you all? My name is Mr. Yi, Chong Chin. I teach line
dance here in Korea. I read world linedance newsletter every day and get
information on worldwide line dance. If I find a good dance and music, I
learn by myself with step sheet and YouTube.
I thank all the choreographyers for all their effort on choreography.
I have been enjoying a lot of dances. I really appreciate their effort on
choreography.
I think many of you have tried the dance ‘Beautiful’ by Shaz Walton.
I need your opinion or answer on this dance.
My question is about ‘Restart’ on the dance ‘Beautiful’. Oh! I love
this dance. It’s the best of my favorites.
I know and I taught my students that Restart is in wall 3, after count 32,
which has no problem at all to me.
But recently I had a chance to talk with another instructor about the dance
‘Beautiful’. She told me that restart should be in wall 5 instead of wall
3. So we tried the dance with restart in wall 5. It didn't seem to
be problem, either.
I hate to change step sheet without choreographer’s permission. I
even don’t like someone else changes step sheet on his own.
I want to know your opinions on what to do.
My another question is about Shaz Walton's dance’ Down!’.
I can’t find the video. Would you tell me where I can fine the
video?
Thank you for your reply in advance.

SUBJECT: NECDC
DECEMBER 12TH HOLIDAY PARTY, DOM POLSKI HALL, LOWELL MASS
One of the most exciting and fun filled nights is the New England Country
Dance Club’s Pot Luck Dinner Dance. Since the second Saturday in December
is the twelfth, and since the NECDC always has their dances on the second
Saturday of the month, we have decided to make this not only our Holiday Party,
but also another fantastic Pot Luck Dinner Dance. The last pot luck party
we almost ran out of room because of all the food. It was a veritable
feast. So bring your favorite dish to share with everyone. Being a
member of the NECDC has its benefits, like a $6.00 admission to the dance.
Non-members are welcome to join us for the dance. Admission is only $10.00
for non-members. NECDC is a non-profit organization with one goal in mind,
to promote dance and friendship in the community. Door prizes and
surprises and a whole lot of dancing and fun. The party starts at 7:00 and
goes to 11:00. Information and directions to the Dom Polski hall in Lowell
are on the web site,
www.necdc.net.
The Board of Directors works very hard all year long to provide everyone
with a place to dance every month. The amount of time and effort each
board member puts into making sure everyone has a good time at the dances is
immeasurable. All we ask is for you to support your club, a club that is
there for you the second Saturday of every month. Not just once in a
while, but every single month, month after month after month. See
you all on the dance floor.

Subject: Dances Learnt In October (to
date)From: Mike Taylor
taylorm...@yahoo.com Hi...
and the Winter chill is starting to settle in here in North West England... got
a tad chilly last night at minus 1c and a wee bit foggy as well... just thought
I would pass on the 'good news' to all those still basking in Sunshine and warm
weather... grrrrrrr.
'FINAL STOMP' by Hanna Reis. Demoed by 'The
Wagonettes' this brought back lots of memories... not the dance itself (as its
quite new).. but the style. 32 counts with 2 restarts and a tag to keep you on
your toes. Personally I loved it - otherwise I would not have learnt it. If you
like your Brooks n Dunn - then this is just for you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDexDzI_OEE 'ROSE
SWING' by 'Rose'. Demoed by Mr. K and his class in Korea. This dance is totally
101% wild... its brilliant. I already had the music .. but not the script (can
someone help here) so I had to learn with Mr. K (he does a walk-through at the
end). Where DID this dance come from. Can ANYONE throw any light on this dance.
I do wish Mr.K would do something about the sound though... its the same on most
of his video's:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItZJPgBg2Eo 'TWILIGHT'
and 'TWILIGHT 2' both by moi!. Demoed by Candy Tan. The dances are Identical
other than one (T2) having a Bridge and different 'dance finish'. The music most
will already know (Twight Time - The Platters) but T2 has the Spanish version -
with a female lead vocal.. and it comes across so different. see what you
think:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7DU2AsShkAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB3u3iQ9-98 'FORGET-ME-NOT'
(Xiang Si He Pan) Choreographed and Demoed by Leong Mei Ling. Mei Ling has a
gift for crafting some really excellent step combinations one after the other to
formulate a beautiful dance - and this one is no exception. Non Asian dancers
and Instructors are slowly coming to enjoy some of the really great music that
is on offer from the East - and the dances that go with it. The music is readily
available via iTunes and Amazon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJyiIe187aQ This
last video link is not so much about the dance - more of how styling used and
based on the dance genre can make a tremendous amount of difference - even to a
dance as well crafted as 'RUMBA FASCINATION' (Nic Bartlam). Its styling that we
can all do - as little or as much as we like.. it all adds that little
something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru9o12554Ok Stay
bright - Stay happy
Hold on to your
dreams

Subject: Vegas Dance Explosion, Posted Play List
Room
Hi everyone,
After sorting out all the dances that I received from around 60
people
coming to Vegas and sorting into most requested dances, I've just
finished
compiling into play lists for each night in the Posted Play List
Room. I've
done my best to include dances from everyone's list. Some
dances are
included for more than one night, just due to popularity of
request.
It's good to see several old classics being revived and I can tell you
that
from now until Vegas, I'll be going through each night's list to review
or
learn several of these so I can run from room to room to dance with you
all!
Between Louie in the main ballroom, the request room and the posted
play
list room, I think we're all going to be dancing up a storm. I
must
remember to wear my pedometer and see how many miles are clocked up over
the
week!
Thanks to those who took the time to submit requests. See you in
Vegas!
Sue
