SUBJECT: LET'S DANCE DAY SOCIAL - 2/4/17 Orlando, Fl.
FROM: LINDY
Calling ALL dancers......Saturday, Feb. 4th is our next LET'S DANCE DAY!! Come dance with us and bring your friends. We have four hours of dancing (from 12 noon to 4 p.m.) Rotation of 2 beginner then 2 intermediate/adv. and plenty of floor splits, all day. There are some new fun dances on the playlist, plus lots of our old fav's. :-) If you have a request, let me know and I will try to include it for the next LDD. Be sure to bring your own water/soft drinks, lunch, and/or snacks. If you want a copy of the playlist to follow on Let's Dance Day, please print one and bring it along, tho I will make a few copies. It is on my website also - www.lindysdancelines.jimdo.com (There are flyers on there too if you need some for your classes).
LDD is all about having fun with friends. We almost always have two dances going to each song. (beginner in back of the lights and intermediate in front)...(that's just how the floor usually works out).
LDD will be at the Beardall Sr. Center at 800 Delaney Ave., Orlando 32801. This is a big brick 3 story building at the corners of Delaney Ave, Gore St. and right off Orange Ave. There is parking all the way around the building, (and at the bank next door as well), but use the handicapped door on the Gore St. parking lot side to enter the building as the other doors are locked on weekends. We dance in the ballroom on the 2nd floor and there is an elevator!!
Since we are finished at 4, you will have time to go to dinner and then go to your other favorite dance place and dance all night too! Your 👣 will be sooooo happy 💕 ....and we do love happy 👣!
So that you can plan ahead, here are some tentative 2017 dates for LDDs:
Feb. 4
March 4
April 1
May 6
June 3
I hope to see you at any/all of our Let's Dance Days!! (and/or classes and other fun events!!)

SUBJECT: DOUG & JACKIE MIRANDA’S YOU CAN DANCE WORKSHOP, BELMONT, SF BAY AREA 1/21/17
From: Judy
It was the best of weathers. It was the worst of weathers. It was perfect. Nice and clear during the day. Rained cats and dogs at night. Just what the doctor ordered to combat the drought attack. We’re winning. And who better to celebrate the victory with but with DOUG & JACKIE. To be honest, it was a difficult decision: to march or to dance. To march for climate change among others or to dance to celebrate a climate change. Truth be told, I just couldn’t miss Doug & Jackie’s YOU CAN DANCE workshop. It’s a once a year event (now on it’s 5th year) whereas the other is an ongoing movement in many forms, one of them, marching. Because one cannot standstill when one’s principles and values and the KIND in humankind are threatened. Just like me, a lot of people chose to dance because the room was packed (looked about a 100 to me) and coming from other places like Sacramento. There were smiley faces big and small adorning the walls, treats abound and a bodacious strawberry cake appeared later during the evening dance to mark Doug & Jackie’s 15th wedding anniversary and, if I may add, Jackie’s birthday next month.
Ageless Jackie came in a perfectly flattering unusually constructed gray blouse over skinny jeans and sparkly dancing shoes and simpatico Doug in a craftedly designed shirt. In 5 hours, indefatigable, always upbeat and without breaking a sweat, the duo taught 9 dances and would have taught some more if time permitted. They taught 2 beginner dances: BAD BAD LEROY and STRAY CAT STRUT; 2 improvers: GEORGETTE’S CADILLAC, 32 ct., 4-wall to Pink Cadillac by Natalie Cole; WAIT MR. POSTMAN, 64 ct., 4-wall to Please Mr. Postman by the Carpenters; 5 intermediate dances: NO MATTER TO ME, 32 ct., 2-wall to Here Comes My Baby by the Mavericks, this has some wonderful, energetic, stylish steps, a joy to dance; CIRCLE OF LIFE, 32 cts., 4-wall to Circle of Life from the Lion King by Ronan Keating, this is a dance oozing with emotion that will just move you, love it; JACARANDA, 32 ct., 4-wall to NEVER LET YOU GO by Jacaranda (and if you look closely enough you’ll see Jackie Miranda in the title), lovely and perky just like Jackie; MADHOUSE TO THE MAX, 48 ct., 2-wall to Keep Your Hands To Yourself by Ethan Allen, this is a dance that they choreographed for Christine Bauer-Matesa and the Madhouse Line Dancers of Vienna, Austria while on tour in Europe, and if I may add again, I had the pleasure of taking a linedance class by Christine while in Vienna many years back but still vivid in my memory; REACHING FOR YOU, 66 ct., 2-wall to Reach by Vonnie Johnston. During the last hour of the workshop, Jackie demoed 3 intermediate dances for us to choose from. I love them all but there was only time for 1 more teach and the dancers chose Reaching for You. A truly magnificent waltz, you can’t help but reach for it.
There was open dancing in between teaches which was expertly and smoothly DJed by CATHY DACUMOS. The evening dance DJ was GARY, the Duke, CLAYTON. While some workshop attendees left for the day (well slowly left in the course of the afternoon while Doug & Jackie were still going strong), lots of evening dancers came just for the dance so the hall was packed on both times. For the 2-hour break, I decided to drive home, have dinner with my husband, change and drive back expecting to do it all in good time. Well, the heavens bawled over like crazy slowing down traffic and made me late. Thank God Gary hasn’t played yet the wildly venerated BLESSED which I’ve been aching to dance (I missed it at the workshop also because of being late). GARY, The Duke, beloved by all is the Queen Elizabeth of Bay Area’s DJ royalty. As they say of the queen – when all the royals are gone, Queen Elizabeth will still be there. When I started linedancing years ago, Gary had already been DJing and then slowly one by one, his contemporaries started retiring from DJing – Michael Barr, Neil Hale, Evelyn Khinoo, Hedy McAdams to name a few. Even the newer ones have retired such as Tina Beare and Millie Dusha. Gary of course played BLESSED and he guessed before I could request it, STILL THE SAME, my favest of Hedy Mcadams’ dances. I felt blessed to dance BLESSED with Jackie who of course was there with DOUG to review their dances and dance with us and still not breaking a sweat.
A great big THANK YOU to COUNTRY QUICKSTEPPERS headed by president ANNI WUNDERLICH for hosting the dance and MUCHOS GRACIAS to DOUG & JACKIE MIRANDA for January’s beautiful promise and perfect fulfillment.
