Dear Dr. Barani,
Thanks a lot for the kind clarification. On the Korean side, three of the proposed speeches - (1), (2) and (4) shown below - represent the
on-going projects, while the other two - (3) and (5) - are in the making. (1) and (2) also represent two different topics from the same project,
so we can adjust the presentation time and the following interaction between respective EU and Korean projects accordingly.
(1) ID-based Communication (Dr. HeeYoung Chung, ETRI)
(2) A Trustworthy Communication Framework based on Insulated Domains (Dr. Woojik Chun, ETRI)
(3) NDN routing (Prof. Ted Kwon, Seoul National University)
(4) Network-aware video services with MPEG DASH and MMT over ICN (Prof. Dukyoung Suh, Kyunghee University)
(5) Modeling ICN performance for feasibility and engineering insight (Prof Yung Yi, KAIST and Byoung-Joon Lee, Samsung)
I hope your concerns are addressed by the above explanation.
Best regards,
BJ

Title : RE: Re: RE: [3rd msg] Organizing session A1 @ Korea-EU Workshop
Dear BJ,
As explained to the Korean colleagues during the VC, we are trying to accommodate your request, i.e to shift the focus of session A1 from SDN/NFV towards ICN/NDN and content routing types of issues. I am still working on it and I guess that at this stage, 3 speakers on our side are fully confirmed. I do not want to comment on the Korean selection, as it is your full prerogative to select the speakers, but we are trying to match your speeches. There are though two issues thatr may be worth clarifying:
- during our early exchanges with the Korean delegation (MSIP, ETRI representatives) it was indicated that the workshop would be useful to identify "twinning projects". This implies that projects running in Europe could interface and liaise more closely with projects running in Korea. On this basis, we have identified speakers as representatives of European projects (these projects are indicated in the draft programme circulated by Carlos with the VC minutes). On Korean side, it seems that speakers would present papers, but not really projects. Can you let us know if the intended Korean speeches are in fact related to running projects in Korea? This would ease later contacts between our respective constituencies;
- At the previous VC, it was indicated that the target number of speakers per session would be in the order of 4. 5 speakers may be a bit challenging to accommodate, so we'll have to find a solution to manage the time and the interactions.
Kind regards,
Bernard

According to the 8/13 video call meeting minutes, it looks the following list of proposed topics and speakers from Korea
side is still valid. Your further comments and topic/speaker proposal would greatly be appreciated.

Title : [2nd msg] Organizing session A1 @ Korea-EU Workshop
Dear Dr. Barani,
Since you are on vacation for quite some time, I decided to send you a tentative list of candidate speakers from Korea
side for the session A1. Please note that this list assumes your accepting the change of the discussion topic for the
session A1, i.e., focused on the "generic architecture including ICN issues"
(1) ID-based Communication (Dr. HeeYoung Chung, ETRI)
(2) Forget OSI: Network Now Has Two Layers - Application and Connection Layer (Prof. Sueng Park, Yonsei U) TBD
(3) NDN routing (Prof. Ted Kwon, Seoul National University)
(3) Modeling ICN performance for feasibility and engineering insight (Prof Yung Yi, KAIST and BJ Lee, Samsung)
I hope you have a great vacatoin, and look forward to hearing from you soon

Title : Organizing session A1 @ Korea-EU Workshop
Dear Dr. Barani,
I am your counterpart for the session A1. It is a great honor to work with you.
Before we start discussing the agenda and speaker selection for session A1, I would like to propose
reorganization of the session A topics first. I think it would help streamline the discussion flow of the
workshop, by focusing the topic of session A1 on the generic architecture issues including ICN, while
moving the virtualization and SDN issues to session A2 as follows.
A1: Virtualization, ICN --> A1: Architecture (including ICN)
A2: SDN/Optical/(NFV) --> A2: SDN (incl. NFV/Optical)
A3: Converged/Integrated NW and Mgmt --> A3: FI for 5G (incl. access n/w)
This proposal also reflects the majority opinion of the Korean organizers.
I look forward to hearing your opinion.
With best regards,

<!--[if mso 9]--> <!--[endif]-->
Dear Dr Lee,
Many thanks for your kind messages and for your proposal. Please, also accept my apologies for this delayed feedback due to the vacation period.
I can confirm that ICN, content routing technologies and architectures are topics of interest in Europe, though this is a controversial issue. It is not completely easy for me to fully accommodate your request, because ICN, CCN, DAN, NDN… stuff was not originally emphasized as a topic for joint activity. As a matter of fact, our June discussion with the Korean delegation identified the following topics as priorities, with significant emphasis on NFV/SDN:
<!--[if !supportLists]-->i) <!--[endif]-->Next gen unified access (Including Optical)
<!--[if !supportLists]-->ii) <!--[endif]-->Smart Node, NFV, SDN Core Tech. & Inter SDN
<!--[if !supportLists]-->iii) <!--[endif]-->IoT (including Networked-CPS, U-City)
<!--[if !supportLists]-->iv) <!--[endif]-->5G System (Including Radio technology, Unified Access, Management System)
<!--[if !supportLists]-->v) <!--[endif]-->Clouds
Therefore, if we go along your proposal, we have to find a full new set of speakers and related projects. I believe that your approach would also need to redimension stream A2, because handling SDN, NFV and the optical intercarrier application of SDN in the same session would lead to a very crowded session. Also, there are some discussion to implement ICN with NFV, so the topics are not fully uncorrelated.
I will try to find a solution, but it will require some imagination. Maybe we need to go for a shorter A1 stream, and larger A2 one.
I guess we'll discuss this at the next video conference,
Best regards,
