Update on our plans for CCCC 2020

Hey, all--

The deadline for submitting proposals to CCCC for next March is Monday. I'm writing to let you know that . . .

1) Geoff and I wrote the proposal for our SIG to be accepted for a second year, and Geoff has submitted it. I've attached a copy of what we wrote.

2) Kristen Getchell, Laural Adams, and I are in the middle of drafting a proposal for a half-day pre-conference workshop on teaching business communication. An exciting outline is shaping up for this! Once we're done, we'll share with you what we wrote and invite your participation in the workshop (fingers crossed it will be accepted!).

3) We've stalled out on developing a proposal for a SIG-sponsored panel on the program--have run short of person power. Is there anybody out there who loves the idea of having such a panel and has the time/energy to work up a proposal by Monday?! If not, that's ok--we can't do everything in our first year of existence. :>) If so, . . . check out what we said about it in our SIG proposal and share your thoughts!

I'm not able to pull together a panel by Monday, but I'm SO pleased with that topic since my current research is all about how the physical environment of a workplace fosters (or constrains) the kinds of communication needed to get work done there.

I think Kathy and Geoff's proposal for the SIG looks like a winner. I'd also be happy to contribute to the half-day pre-conference workshop. My physical environment research might fit in well. I'd discuss the kind of project-based writing that helps entrepreneurs create enterprises, a nice follow-on, I think, to an experiential, problem-based approach to teaching in general and teaching professional writing in particular. If you need more details, let me know!

This SIG looks exceedingly well launched, thanks to you all.

Yes, your research would make for a perfect contribution to our panel! FYI, Marcy Orwig and Paula Lentz at UW-Eau Claire are working on a proposal and will soon post it so we can give them some quick feedback and they can get in in by tomorrow!

Hey, Kathy and Debby:

Thank you for your interest in the panel. Marcy and I looped Kristen in and have written our complete proposal. I'm not sure that at this point we have time before the submission deadline for a substantial rewrite. It would be great if you could attend the panel and share your research. I'm guessing the half-day workshop could use some more people with your expertise as well.

Marcy should be sharing the proposal later today or tomorrow after we've done our final edits.

Good Afternoon!

After Kathy's email last week, I realized that not organizing a SIG sponsored panel presentation would be a missed opportunity for this group, given all the work that both she and Geoff have done. So, please view the attachment for a panel that includes myself, Paula Lentz, and Kristen Getchell. 

I still need to polish it with some references, and a final grammar check; but, otherwise I plan on submitting it late tomorrow afternoon. If you have any suggestions or thoughts, please send them my way before tomorrow at noon. 

Again, I very much appreciate all the the work that has been done so far with this SIG. I realize that I wasn't able to physically attend your meeting in Pittsburgh (rather, I was able to phone in!), but I hope that I am able to meet you all face-to-face next year in Milwaukee!
